AS I KNOW others on this forum are not Lucky, but worked damn hard for our materialistic crap.


we've been blessed.



In the last 48 hours I've talked a dear friend down from suicide for a couple hours.

in the last week, a homeless gal asked me for a couple bucks. Nah, but I'll buy you $20 of food at Taco Bell, we shared a hour of deep talk. Her chapters were dark. I gave her a warm meal.



we all need to count our blessings.


can't imagine being homeless or living on a sidewalk or curb. We have them living under a bridge nearby.


Keep it in perspective ....the little things in life are just that..................little things.


big woop if someone cuts you off in traffic............wahhhh.

I dropped off a buddy at the local va BH clinic last week.
That was rough. Hopefully he gets out after Christmas and gets past the holidays alive.

Holiday season is hard on everyone.

We are all very fortunate! I've thought about it this year and want to stop exchanging gifts with my family. Instead, do something for the less fortunate with the money they would have spent buying something unnecessary.

I have a down on his luck friend moving into one of my apts and only charging him what he's paying currently. $500 a month is what he pays for a room, and he will now have a 1 bd apt that would go for $1k.

Generally, if we are posting on a high-end automotive forum like these, we have been more fortunate than most. We all have dark times in our lives, and alot of hurdles. I have been lucky to grow up in a very stable/happy family with no mental health issues or major drama. I arguably live in the best country in the world, and have a good job, with a happy wife of 30 years, and two well adjusted grown children. We just got back Sunday from a week in Jamaica at an all inclusive resort, but saw the rough side of the country on a local excursion, and made sure to donate to their local Christmas toy drive.

In reflecting upon all of this, to many I live a fantasy life, and am so lucky, but I veiw it as making good choices throughtout my life, and having a strong support system. I can't imagine the stress from being homeless/jobless, with no one to lean on, or get decent advice from.

We all are truly blessed.

Some good points here we should all heed . Several times a year at random restaurants I try to quietly buy a police officer/s meal . Or some other first responder I feel it's the least I can do . I do the same if I see a military person in uniform . My wife and I donate quite a bit of " stuff " to the local shelter and several times a year donate to food pantry .

My wife and I have been very lucky/fortunate in our working lives and have achieved our version of the American dream and we feel it is important to give back however you can . Just a simple smile and hello can make a persons day . I'm not a religious person but if we ALL could get along a little better everyone's lives would reap the benefits .

Yep, I have been very fortunate. I was born to parents that loved me, always provided a stable home, and food to eat. I never once saw my parents have yelling screaming fight like TV and movies like to show. Never once.
I learned to work for what I want at an early age. Dad made it clear to me, if I want a car, work for it and buy it myself. He gave me an interest free loan, and paid for the insurance, and of course a place for me to live.

I have made my living all my life in the photography business, it is all I have ever done. I used to point out to co-workers that on a day to day basis we were doing for a living what millions of people all over the country sit in rush hour traffic trying to get home so they can spend time in a darkroom, or taking pictures.

Our local PCA region has a Christmas party every year. For years we exchanged gifts, and I got real tired of another lame $25 gift that was never what I wanted. I pushed to change the tradition. Now our region asks everyone to bring a gift for the children at the The Children's Center Rehabilitation Hospital.

I helped deliver a Cayenne full of toys, and a check for $230 from a party with 22 couples at it.

I used to get all hot and bothered with some fool cutting me off in traffic, or other drivers bonehead moves. I just ignore it, and let it go. There is really nothing to be done, except get mad, and that accomplishes nothing good.

One of my friends thought of himself as a deep thinker. He favorite phrase he repeated a lot was "You are in life you you decided to be" (right now.) Only because of a long string of decisions through your life, did you get right where you are right now. You decided to take a job, picked a spouse or girlfriend, buy that house or not, that car, it was all your decisions.

I was at a McDonalds awhile back and there was a fellow, presumably homeless, hard to say, that was simply standing outside by the door. After I finished eating my junk meal I bought a burger, walked outside and gave the food to him. He was standing next to the trash and immediately tossed the burger in w/o saying a word.

You never know.

I'm fortunate in that I started out at 18 with nothing. I've slept in my car, yes. It was easy to find a job in those days. I'm fortunate that I was willing to work.

And here, for you is my sincere thanks for you helping a friend transitioning one of those dark places. Thanks for doing that.
