I don't have anything a yote could take from me... so no, no shot.

That said, if you are good with your range estimation at 70 feet, that is not quite 25 yards and I can get 6/6 on a 8" steel at 25 yards w/ my CZ75BD (only CF pistol I have).

Absolutely I was agreeing with you, also in my current urban environment the only safe place to discharge a firearm is at an indoor range, but we would see the occasional coyote strolling down the street.

I've shot more coyotes than I can remember, with a pretty good mix of firearms. I have not shot many at all with the .357 mag (maybe five or six) because I hardly ever carry one in the field. In my early days, I always used the Speer 158 grain soft point or hollow point. I'm pretty sure a few of those guys must have fallen to one or the other of those. I never remember having any sort of difficulty, and this would have been out of a 7 1/2" Virginian Dragoon single action. Your Marlin will speed them along on their way much faster, so they should be even more effective.

I think with the increase in velocity over a pistol, given the proper ammunition, I would think it would work wonderfully. You would have to keep shots within range where you could be very sure about their placement, but sure, why not? I would lean towards a heavy bullet and find the one your little carbine likes the best. I don't think construction would matter - soft point, hollow point, flat pointed solid - all should work equally well. They will all behave like a solid out past 50 yards or so, so don't worry what the nose looks like to begin with. Just avoid the round nose stuff.

He might but I wouldn't...it's still 9mm.

Know a guy with yote problems around his horses. When we were planning an ambush, the suitability of a suppressed 9mm carbine was mentioned. Consensus was YES.

I shoot two or three of those mangey things a year on my property, and Tank has killed two. There seems to be no end to them. They discovered long ago the cats and small dogs are easier to catch then rabbits and squirrels.

My neighbors didn't approve until one went over their fence and grabbed their Maltese in front of their children. It turned and went right back over the fence with the dog un its mouth. Tank caught and killed it just a couple days later. Now my neighbor has a .22 Mag at the ready. I hear it go off now and then.

Clean kills with 1 shot...9mm or .22 mag.?

I will defer to better options since I have them.
I don't like doing stuff like this, but it's necessary. I'll go with more potent rounds...but that's just me.

I had two game cameras, now I have five arrayed around the farm based on advice from Fish and Game. I am in the assess mode before I commit to a course of action.

The game cameras have been a a drawer since my son went to law school. The deer patterns are well understood.

Coyotes tip the balance in areas like mine, especially on farms with animals.

The Fish and Game folks are all in.

I've seen a fox and a bobcat on my game cams, but this was new. I've also found a couple of small critter skulls just within the past few weeks around another pond....and my muskrats families have been AWOL for a couple of months...

This 'yote is on borrowed time (even if he's not the culprit)...if hangs around.
