Low mileage 997.1 vs high mileage 997.2
Recently posted about a 997 as a year round daily driver. Truth be told I'm falling in love with this car after having driven a few. Apples to others compared to older air cooled cars.
I'm focusing on 2006 and later cars for the improved ims. Budget is around 40k. This gets me a 25k mile 2006 997.1 or a 60k mile 2009 997.2 with pdk. No preference for the minimal styling changes. I won't lie, the pdk is impressive and may be a nice addition for a DD. I'll equally happy to row my own for a nice example. I'll put 10k miles on a year. Any reason a higher mile car would scare you away? Seems like water pumps are a every 30-40k occurrence. Is a higher mileage pdk a problem? Strangely, there are not to many 100k+ cars on the market which I'm not sure how to interpret. Thanks Vin Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk |

Resale value and wearables on higher mileage P cars cost money.
997.1 other than some 2005 cars have performed exceptionally well. A small number of 3.6L cars from cold climates have experienced bore scoring but a PPI can check for that.

This ad doesn't read like a scam, must be something wrong with it. Even with the very high mileage...

My '06 911 S with Aerokit was for sale until this past Wednesday right in line with your budget. It's headed in your direction to RI Monday or Tuesday.

Do some research on servicing the PDK, it’s definitely more expensive than a manual. Mileage wouldn’t scare me and despite owning on the order of 10 9X6 and 9X7 cars I’ve never replaced a water pump. They are all great cars.

I'd go with a 2009 or later for "PDK", otherwise you get Tiptronic.....

I own a 60,000 mile 2009 C4S PDK. It's been a very reliable car. One computer went out a while ago, which prevented the car from going into Sport and Sport Plus modes, and the feature that locks the wheels on an incline for two seconds until you can get gas on after releasing the brake (think San Francisco and rolling backward from a light) was gone. Obviously part of the function of that particular computer. That little box was $900 for the box alone.
I just had my PDK serviced, and while expensive, it wasn't totally unreasonable. Now, my mechanic said that the service calls for the filter to be replaced, which is hard mounted to the transmission pan, so you have to replace the pan too - expensive. However, he said he's NEVER encountered a filter that actually needed replacing, so he recommends that if it's clean to reuse it. big bucks saved. I've owned a 2000 996 with the hated M96 engine for 12 years now. It now has 200,500 miles and has been bulletproof. It's my daily driver. Yrs, the IMS was replaced at 110,000 miles with the LN Engineering model. The original was perfect when my mechanic removed it. |

pedals, at least the PDK is performance oriented and actually provides some benefits at the track.

I was just looking at these, found a few 2009s for 35-low 40's. No info other than price but worth a look, 2009+ is worth a bit of a premium miles or not.

Even money, I’d take a well-maintained, higher mile 997.2 PDK over the lower mile 997.1 all day (unless you’re talking the turbos, then it’s a toss-up).
- Updated bumpers - Updated PCM - 9A1 engine is better than the M96/97 (even with the later M97 engines having fewer failures, the still get reported) - PDK is generally reliable; shifts faster than you; can be flashed (COBB) to shift even faster if you want. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
