It is funny how some dogs are intimidated by cats or even much smaller dogs. My old doberman was a wonderful very smart dog. She adopted me and just showed up one day, and did not want to leave. She was about three or so when I took her in. She was just a playing happy dog until she saw a cat. Then she went into a zombie cat killing machine mode. Deaf, dumb and blind with rage.
I heard a noise outside in my fenced back yard, by my trash cans one day and I ran out. Betty, (my doberman) had a cat pinned to the ground. The cat was clearly terrified. I pulled Betty off of the cat and it hobbled over the fence. Two days later my doorbell rang. It was the owners of the cat. They were asking if my dog was OK. They heard through that is might have been my dog that got hold of their cat. I told them the cat was in Betty's domain, her back yard. They were understanding and mostly worried my dog might be injured. I invited them in, and Betty was typical happy to see strangers, and friendly and totally uninjured. They said their cat was mean towards dogs and had even injured many dogs. I told them it is best if that cat stay out of Betty's back yard, and any critter that ventures out there is fair game to her. I know Betty killed a few squirrels and several cats that ventured into her domain over the years. I had her trained well, until she saw a cat. I have no idea how she was treated or taught before I owned her. She just hated cats.

Don't let the pic fool ya, the dog chases the cat. Just playing though and the dog likes the neighbors cat. The neighbors cat does not swat at the dog so the dog is less intimidated by the cat.
Animals don't realize their own size. We have another cat half that size that has the bigger cats number

My Chiweenie is such a sissy.
When I came home one day the neighbors cat, Tick, was laying in his driveway. I let Katy out of the car and she immediately spotted Tick. And she goes after him. Barking and raising hell as she raced across the yard. Tick arched his back while still laying down. Katy, apon seeing this, turned tail and headed back home crying and yipping. She didn't get withn 20 feet of him yet acted like he had ripped off her leg. |

From the pic in the OP, I wouldn't be surprised, Siamese cats are known for being cranky.

My ginger Tabby tends to boss the dogs around. Here he is with one of our daughter's dogs when we were pet sitting. He's taken over the dogs food dish. We've also found the two of them with the dog crying in the bathroom and the cat sitting at the door.
![]() Once they establish their relationship if the dog settles in he is very affectionate with them. ![]() He also loves to play fetch with a paper ball. He's become a fun cat to have around. ![]()

I've told this story before, but my first pet was a cat I got from a junk yard and tamed. I was maybe in first grade then. He would make mincemeat out of any dog that bothered him, which included the K9 (Korean war) Doberman that lived behind an 8 ft. fence in the yard behind us at the time.

Currently we have two twelve year old neutered male cats (brothers ) who grew up around dogs in a very "live and let live " environment. Last year we got a border collie pup who tried out her trade on the boys. She soon found out those cats not only wouldn't herd, but would gang up on her to put her in her place at the bottom of the pecking order.
It is interesting to note the Alpha cat will cut the pup some slack and will be very friendly with her. His brother, on the other hand, is very determined the dog will not forget her place. It is not unusual to see the three of them arranged around the wood stove. Best of buddies. Les ![]()

the look on my dogs face is priceless.
the cat takes a shower with me every time I shower. evening showers we get both in there with us.....not "in" the shower. I can tell the dog to "get the cat" and off the dog goes. the chase begins.

We rescued this dog at about a year old and she has a super sweet disposition. Has to have her head on you or even the cats when shes laying down. Getting dogs to like cats is easy, getting cats to like dogs is a little tougher.

our attack cat loved his dog
and the dog was very active in rescuing the cat from cat fights but if any other dog was near it was attacked inc german Sheppard's by the cat in total claws out attacks the same dog adopted a very young kitten who thought the dog was it's mom damm I wish breeders would try for longer life and not pure bred standards in pets |
