An amazing talent. I saw him live at a little fair in the Salinas Valley in the early 1970's. He put on a great show and gave it everything he had, as I recall.

I remember when I was a young'un and he was on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson and he came out on stage with his guitar and a hand mixer with picks taped to it. Told Johnny something to the effect that he injured his strumming hand and had to use the mixer and then started playing with it. The look on Johnny's face.
He always looked like he was having the time of his life when he played.

Hee-Haw.... really corny jokes and skits but some great musical talent having a lot of fun (picking and grinning as they used to say). Roy, Buck Owens, Grandpa Jones, and a list of guest musicians that goes on and on...
Can't imagine a show like that being on the tube these days, people take themselves way to seriously now.

Monster talent. Always seemed to be enjoying himself, I don't remember hearing about any Roy Clark scandals.
(My dad watched Hee-Haw like it was his religion. Buck and Roy were all that I could stand, (oh, and the large breasted women in short cutoffs)
