RIP.
Amazing that at 18, he was flying planes in war time. Part of the greatest generation. |

He got shot down, twice, and got back in the plane, before he was old enough to buy a drink.

That had to be one of the most amazing memorial services I've ever heard.
Hope a lot of young people got to watch it. They could learn a lot from it, IMO.

David Gergen said exactly what I was feeling - that those four eulogies were the best ever at a state funeral. Just wow...

A great man from the greatest generation, he will be missed. He and Mrs. Bush raised a great family. The ceremony today was perfect.

I tried to get to the funeral (Repose? In State?) but the parking area was completely full and closed off, with a 2 mile line of cars waiting. There was probably 5 times as many people as they expected to come. I couldn't get anywhere near the parking area, so I went home.
It's settled down now, but there's no question that this was far more popular than they had anticipated.

All I can say is that is one hell of a love story with GHWB and Barbara. 73 years married and still in love!

The ADA saved my job and that's the least I have to be grateful for.

Listened to his 91 inaugural yesterday, and it brought me almost to tears thinking about how far our politics have changed.

It was interesting hearing the eulogies yesterday and wondering how or what things would be said of some of those sitting in the front pew.

I think the time that passes from when a POTUS serves and leaves this world makes a lot of difference in how the eulogies are crafted. I remember how Margaret Thatcher was vilified in the UK just after her term in office yet the passage of time has been kinder to her way of thinking and how she shaped the UK. Of course the radical left will always hate her as she rattled their cage but we now tend to see her policies as necessary though painful. The recent eulogies for Bush 41 made me think quite a lot about the man and how he handled himself and steered our country through some pretty radical times.
