what an A**

I went to home depot this weekend and parked out where no one was. there were at least 3 spots all around me.
even when I came out of the store this was the ONLY car next to me.

Intentionally damaging someone else's car is not my thing but if did not have this girl with me and I new the guy would know who did it as my car is the only one around and he could retaliate, I would have done some damage.
that said, there is some blue paint on his nice new truck.

then yesterday I notice a DEEP 12in scrape on the fender of the wifes pilot.
the scrape is up hi just above where the fender sticks out so I think someone was carrying something and scratched her car.

FWIW - When I see a nice car parked away and the lot is filling I will park next to them to protect them, having my drivers door on their side.

I am a car guy like the person who went through the trouble to park away from everyone, therefore I am going to be careful and not door ding them.

Maybe this cat was doing the same?

Years ago I had just taken delivery of my Audi A6 on lease. We went out to a NY style diner for dinner one night, I parked way out away as far as you can get from the establishment.

Upon returning to our car there was a POS full size white van parked next to me and on top of me. I looked at the side of the Audi and there was a nice white door ding on my car.

I went inside the restaurant and told the hostess there was a white van outside with his headlights on and gave her the plate number. I then went back to my car and waited.

When the guy came out he looked confused, his headlights were not on. I confronted him and asked why TF he would park right next to me and so close, then I pointed out the nice door ding he gave me. He was floored and speechless.

Here is the crazy part, a waitress must have been friends with the guy, she followed him out. She jumps in and starts trying to make it right, which was none of her business. She walks up to my car with her dish towel and starts rubbing on the scuff mark and announces, "Look! it is coming off!!" I was so close to completely losing it. I told her to stop rubbing on my car paint and that she was most likely doing more damage. She just gave me a dirty look and walked off.

Dude gave me his info I told him I would look at it in the morning and see if I can compound it out, if it needs touch up, he was paying for it.

That is why I park next to the nice cars to keep idiots like that guy away from you.

OK now seeing pic which was not there while I was posting.

That is a dbag move on the trucks parts and you have every reason to be pissed.

Your post is confusing, you talk about your wife's pilot, I see a 930 and also talk of blue paint where you damaged the Ram truck?

MBAtarga 12-03-2018 04:13 AM

So did you just post a picture proving you did damage to the guys truck? With BOTH license plates shown on the picture?

I was wondering about you for a minute ;).

Don't know why...911s do this....to a LOT of pick 'em ups that cost a lot more. My F150 is a POS and I will guard yer car with it too :)

LOL!!

I would not have dinged the guys truck though. A 930 is pretty rare, the guy may remember the car.

T77911S 12-03-2018 05:03 AM

pilot and Porsche. 2 separate incidents.

you can see there is no one else around.
a guy pull up next to the truck as I was taking the pic.

had to post pic from phone and took a while

A guy with an Audi R8 packed super close to my 76 930 and dented the fender with his door. I was (still am) super mad about it.

I was going to get a label maker and put a label on the back of his R8 congratulating him for his stupidity. He parked in the same parade as me for several years.

I'm confused. Was the blue paint from your car?

Years ago I had the same thing happen to me at the Home Depot on Sunrise. I parked my 911 way out in the nosebleed spots. When I came out, some soccer mom in an Excursion had squeezed in right next to me. She was just unloading her devil spawn as I was getting back to my car, and one the little hellions was having a tantrum and kicked the back door open and banged it into my car. Luckily for her, I was just started to do the bodywork to re-paint it, and it was a small ding, so I didn't have to go back into the store for a shovel and a couple bags of quicklime.

That Black Audi sure does get around.

id10t 12-03-2018 06:10 AM

There was a period of 3 years where I drove the 356 to work (at a college!) daily.

Parked between the person who won 10 mil in the lottery (he can afford to fix it) and my neighbor who also has several classic cars (he'll do his best to avoid damage)

yes
I am not exactly skinny by any means, in fact the girl I was with calls my belly "the hamburger".
you can see my door is up against his

as said, I would never intentionally bang someones car, I fact I am always extremely careful not to, even in my old truck. that day I let my "guard" down a little and did not care about his truck.

If the lot is huge and empty enough in the outer regions, why not just park diagonally across 2 parking spots and have a nice walk to the store? No one should GAF if there are hundreds of empty spots around you. If you simply park 4 or 5 spaces away from the edge of the filled part of the lot and expect no one to park next to you, you're going to lose that bet if the Walmart gets just marginally busier while you're inside.

People are awful parkers, it's just a fact of life. I drive a 2006 VW Jetta Tdi w 140k miles on it as a DD, love the car. 5-speed manual, black/black leather w every option, surprisingly sporty and very economical. Still, I've had new car fever lately because I want a few features it doesn't have like bluetooth, keyless go, iPod interface, etc...

I can afford the new or slightly used car I want but one of the things stopping me is the fact that the Jetta is already dinged and you just don't have to think about parking it in crowded spaces at the Post Office or Home Depot, etc. If someone opens a door into it, they are a rude fk but really, who cares? It makes for such an enjoyable city car. No stress. If someone dings your nice car, it ruins your day or worse, plus you have to hunt for safe parking spaces and then sweat it while you're inside, etc..

Had a guy do that but his back bumper physically blocked mine in.
I had to wait for him and was pissed.
Idiots.

Since my daughter now works in NYC, I drive her 2007 FJ a few times a week.

I just put in a new radio with all the BT (with mic), iPod interfaces, Sirius, etc.

World of difference..$400 installed.

I've considered that but the radio in this car is so central to the dash that it would have to be a VW unit and match or it would look hideous. I really like this car.

The other thing is that while I don't blanch at spending $20k or more to upgrade my car, spending $400 on a radio gives me pause. Weird economics, I know...

Hang on to the FJ Cruiser, those are appreciating.

Ar work we had someone park well over the lines. I parked next to them anyway, but was nice enough to pull in past where their mirror would hit mine but they still had to get in the passenger door. Don't feel bad, the cameras showed they were one of the first ones in the lot and they parked correctly, backed out and parked way over the lines so it was intentional on their part.

I forgot to clarify, the lot is always full.
