I saw one of these the other day. Semi-discrete but striking in one package. And I'm sure as an RS5, performance is close to 991 I would imagine.

Some good suggestions here. Interesting that the Porsche is too flashy but an M BMW or Lexus isn’t? Perception is a funny thing...

Honestly the Mustang is a good suggestion, the new one with the Performance Pack 2 is basically a budget GT350. Magnetic shocks, Recaros, Brembos, etc. usable back seats too.

Another one that hasn’t been listed here is a Kia Stinger. Basically invisible but with BMW levels of performance, unlike the BMW it’s not made of broken. Won’t impress the neighbors but they have gotten rave reviews.

Of the typical performance sedans the C63 is silly fun, and most people will mistake it for a standard C-class.

If my paycheck allowed and if it was possible: I would forget the 'discrete part' and vote Panamera.
in black they are discrete, the bright blue not so much, but will prove to be 'rare' someday.
If I had half the funds go with a WRX or GTI, also in black. I betcha : much fun.

It sounds like they are describing the BMW M235 or M240. The reviews all say that it's a sleeper that has 90 of the performance of an M3 in a package that is a better daily driver, and is completely indistinguishable from a regular 3 Series. In fact, the reviews generally agree that the main criticism is that it doesn't have any visual distinction from "lesser" models. You can see from my signature which one I went with. It’s my daily driver all year. Prior to the RS5 I dd a 2015 M3, before that 2011 M3.

IMO the M3s were more fun to drive but we’re not discrete enough. Somehow more people that are not really car people know what an M3 is....and have some sort of opinion of the driver. I find that way more ordinary people comment positively on the RS5 as just a very nice looking car....they have no idea what it is or how much power it has. And most true car people are positively respectful.

I know some will say who cares what others think, but that just doesn’t work for someone who has a lot of employees or interacts with a wide range of people for business.

As far as fun goes...you have to put that in perspective of the situation. A commute or business trip in the Audi can be therapeutic. I do choose to take it on Sunday drives occasionally but that is more for the 911. Except!.....for in the snow, where honestly I can’t imagine what other vehicle made can make faster progress than that thing on full snow tires

I just purchased a 2015 M235i (Estoril over Terra) as a fun daily driver. So far, so good.

A mustang is high on my list for my next car but I believe the OP is asking about a four seat car?

Back in my parts slinging days I had a few clients with these. Super cool cars. They all referred to them as rocket tanks though. Damn things seemed to chew threough brakes like you wouldn’t believe. Heavy cars with crazy power.

Also a ***** to tune, just not many options out there.

Although personally I'd not worry about driving a discrete car, and pick a Jaguar XKR, 991, or Lexus LC500
