I don't get it. Seems like a decent enough car but I can't imagine anyone paying higher than the current bid. And even that seems slightly high. And you better love green.

if they'd stitch welded the chassis, that would help a lot

Saw the auction and thought it was nuts. Well done, but seems like a lot of effort for an unreal car.

So now clipping a car is a positive?

Wow. Beautiful work. The only things I would say is it needs the early green font gauges which would look amazing w/ the green dash and seats. And too bad they did carbs on it, modern generic/tuned EFI (like Clewett Engineering) would be the business on that. Impressive build. Widebody SC plus power brakes in the longhood outlaw look.
Not for the purists but best of all worlds going on there.

How hard does a car have to be hit to have to weld on a front clip back to the VIN panel?

aha - I have those green gauges!
and I agree they would go well with the green interior but not an 80k car IMO |

Interesting. I wouldn’t care to own it, definitely wouldn’t want to pay for it, but somebody did some nice work.

As always...I cannot imagine anyone paying more than about $40K for a car with a front clip welded on. A couple of totaled cars welded together just seems like a lot of good parts.

Now in 993 land ...

Yawn.
At least they didn't mess up a perfectly good SC. The day will come (if it hasn't already) when folks will curse the owners that backdated perfectly good accordion bumper and 964 cars. Just like we love to have a short wheel base car with a slant nose turbo body! ![]() G |

Cool car crazy price. To me the backdate is the 21st century equivalent of the slantnose conversion, I think it’s already getting played out.

Almost makes one want to hack up their perfect middie and send it to BAT for a crazy price.

It’s not quite what I like about a hot rod backdated 911, but looks nice.
I would think the first owner had a wrecked 911SC with a crushed front end and an early 911 with a crushed rear end to build the car. Lots of work there. Did they get all the VINs (visible and hidden) swapped out to make it a “72”? |

The VIN hanky-panky would have me steering clear. That is if I were looking for a 911 Hot Rod, which I'm not.
Based on the high bid, the VIN thing doesn't bother some...
