I Want a Hemi Charger

I had an R/T Charger with the base 5.7 Hemi and the Super Track Pak as a rental a little while back and now I want one. Nice big practical car with a fantastic sounding V8, excellent steering, active exhaust, great brakes, and surprisingly nimble handling. For under $40k new you can get the big 485 HP engine, Bilstein active suspension, forged wheels, and Brembo brakes as part of the Scat Pack package. Honestly it reminded me of my C63 but bigger, just a laugh out loud fun car. I’m trying to talk my wife into one for her daily driver.

Actually they get about 26 MPG on the highway. My wife’s Ecoboost Flex is really lucky to get 20.

Merica! I want an ecoboost Mustang... but my wife is next in line for a new car... but after that.

What I REALLY want is a 996/997 but just like the Charger I would be concerned about gas mileage. Ecoboost Mustang claims 30MPG highway if you keep you foot out of it (I won't )

I did notice the local rental place has Chargers, I said to my wife "we should rent one for the weekend" she said "why?"

They do make a nice sound... I’m not a fan of the dodge infotainment system, but if you can get over that it’s a lot of HP for the money...

Why not get the Hellcat, and go all out?

^^^^^^^The SRT8 is a good compromise between base car and the Hellcat. If you like the base car, drive the better version^^^^

.... but it's also a big box plowing down the road and carries at least 6 comfortably if I'm not mistaken.

Looks like this weekend they are going to show the widebody version of the SRT Charger if you want to kill your mileage with wider tires.

Sid, what about the infotainment did you have issues with? Most reviews praise it as one of the better systems out there and we had a rental Pacifica that the system worked pretty well for us.

Really? I test drove the SRT/8 a couple years ago just for fun and it was disappointing. Big, heavy and as a result not moving as fast as I would have expected. It did have a stick, so that was good.

The Scat Cat is the new SRT 392, same engine and most of the same options. They killed off that model. Hellcat is awesome but pricey.

Charger or Challenger? Don’t think they ever offered a stick in the Charger but did in the Challenger. I don’t like the Challenger btw, it feels bigger and the visibility sucks.

Just want to make sure that I'm up to speed here...BMWs are junk but modern Chrysler products are quality vehicles?

I have a 392 Challenger. It's strong, but it's not super fast. Most of the time it's got all you need and more, but it doesn't blow your mind like a Hellcat would. If I had it over, I would have gotten a Hellcat. I drive 80-85% freeway at 70-80mph and average 18.3 mpg, so I don't see the possibility of 26 mpg highway.

If you're looking for any kind of Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep, it helps to deal with a large volume dealer. They get substantially more money back per car than the average dealer.

That explains it I am obviously challenged! Indeed, it was a Challenger.

I have more faith in a Dodge at 100k than a BMW.
