RIP .Melvin Dummar
Melvin was 74. He was the guy who said he picked up Howard Hughs in the desert in 1967. After Hughs passed away a will came to light that purported to give Dummar a large inheritance.

I remember that very well. Deep down, I wished that his story was true.

Did he not spend time in jail for fraud for that episode? I am too lazy to Google it.
I do remember those days and Hughes had a BILLION dollars and everyone was astonished he had that much. Just a total piker in a era with folks like Gates, and Buffet, and Bezos. Of course a billion in the 60s and 70s was a lot more real money than today.

A billion is still a ton of money..just ask everybody that you know. Especially in light of what nearly all Americans get by on. |

Many years ago I worked on a case that involved a document that had been altered. I had to hire a former secret service agent and nationally known document examiner to get to the bottom of the case. The opposing party's expert was the document examiner who "authenticated" Hughes' will for Dummar. She apparently had a bit of a reputation in the community.
