Where could I get a hydraulic spool valve made for me ?

I just need the spool itself. It broke , and someone tried to weld it. I got it to not leak, and work, but it is fubar, and an accident waiting to happen.
This is for my roll back. Valve was made in England in 1988 for Jerr Dan. There are no replacements for it.
I can replace the entire valve block for $1500.00, retro in an aftermarket valve body for a few hundie, but that will be a bunch messing around. (Plus, I have controls on both sides of the truck and I have yet to find an aftermarket unit with two input levers).
I have other valves ( spools) that I could send out, so they can take exact measurements , and reproduce .
Any ideas ???

It would look like this but have attachments for pull rods on each end. Seems like it would be simple to machine.

I would expect any machine shop to be able to do that.

"Simple" is relative...
If the OD is ground to a "non stock" dimension that could be really tough for a one off.
If it needs to be plated that is also painful for a single piece.

Barring the above, a competent machinist should be able to turn the part from bar stock and mill the remaining detail.

I would be looking for a small shop with an old guy. Many "modern" shops will want a drawing, which you don't want to pay for.

If you can find a machine shop anymore. Still some time, a few setups, probably a few hours. Might also be chromed/hardened like a cylinder rod?

How many functions is this? Does the same cylinder(s) extend and tilt? My dump trailer uses a 12v valve. might be worth the conversion?

We work with a lot of machine shops: With the right specifications, and call outs, no doubt.

How much do you want to spend? One offs are never cheap.

Do not try to make that. Buy a new valve.

You will have all kinds of problems with tolerance, wear, and leakage with a home-made spool.

Or find an identical used valve.

If it were me, I would replace the whole unit since the one you spent a bunch of time and money on will break shortly anyways! This was you have some warranty and can get parts when needed.

Send it to me or the dims, I will do a CAD drawing for you and get one made. It will be about $400 including engineering, machining, and casehardening delivered to your door.

I vote also for changing the valve if you can, or don't mind them not matching on both sides.
