Luckily I haven't had to break mine out but once so far this winter. Did learn though that my UTV with a full cab but no heater isn't as comfortable as I imagined it would be. It'll be getting a heater installed soon.

Honda's address snow with malice. 1332 TA here. It's omg heavy (and expensive) but nearly unstoppable. Take care of it and it should last for generations.

I used a used Arien as a kid. It was electric start, which was good since the damn pull cord broke. We had some VERY long electric cords to restart it at the bottom of the driveway, if it stalled.

I do not miss snow-blowing or shoveling. My last 2 places in the North East had gravel driveways.

Honda HSS724 electric start, track drive. Weighs in at #254. I got it to replace my old one, which has been running flawlessly for a decade or so which was also a Honda track drive, that I gave to my daughter.

GF used the old one mainly for clearing the deck in back. In reverse the thing just walked up the steps like nothing. The new one has independent left and right drive clutches (which is how you turn the thing) and a hydraulic lift assist to change the height of the auger, LED light and of course electric start because the GF has a bad shoulder or something. Not sure what. But irregardless, I outsmarted her. This one is longer than the old one so GF can barely make the turn at the top of the steps. So now she has to shovel the deck by hand.

As an ex-Michigan snow dweller in FL, I'm having nightmarish flashbacks looking at that pic. I was out walking the dog early, just before sunrise, half-awake the other day and thought I was seeing a light covering of snow in spots. WTF? Oh wait, that's just white sand. Stay calm

In case you miss it up here, the forecast for next week includes 6-10" of snow, 20-30 mph winds and high of -1º F. But not all at once. Only two at a time through next week. They take turns.

Then it gets bad.

Yep. We're supposed to be getting a wonderful cold snap next week too. UGH..
Oh well, there's only about 10 weeks more! Then I'll be griping about getting the pool ready again.

When we got dumped on a couple days ago we borrowed the plow truck from my brothers work. mostly to do my neighbors long hilly driveway that we didnt feel like snowblowing after doing ours. Im going to try and borrow it every snowstorm it was awesome! So much fun to operate my brother was driving and i was working the plow. We went around the neighborhood did 4 or 5 driveways. It was a bit late in the day so they were mostly done but we made a hundred bucks and were nice and warm and having fun.

I've got a hardware store Troy-Bilt 2 stage. A tank of gas gets me 6-ish driveway clearings.

This is the first winter that:
-I've had to fill the tank before snow season ends.
-I discovered that past 8 inches of snow, I have to run the blower at a slower speed.

It's funny how a thread here can bring back childhood memories. When I was younger I'd go up and down the street shoveling sidewalks to make a little extra money. I knew most of the people because I delivered newspapers too so I kind of knew who would need their walks done. The funny thing this thread made me remember was who the first neighbor was to buy a snowblower. He'd walk up and down the block doing the sidewalks. Hated that guy

BTW, had to break my snowblower out today.

I have had my simplicity snowblower for 22 years now ever since we had our first house. I won’t lie and say that it has been trouble free, but I am so stubborn that I have been through the thing from top to bottom over the years and it does still work. My kids just said in the last snow fall that I’m like the old man in the “A Christmas Story” movie (“you’ll shoot your eye out, kid”) always going downstairs battling his boiler and letting loose a string of obscenities. It’s a fair comparison.

Phew! Looks like the storm is heading south of us so it'll just be a few flakes and a little breezy in my neck of the woods. Offical local forecast:

...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 7 PM EST MONDAY... * WHAT...Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 6 to 9 inches are expected. * WHERE...Benzie and Grand Traverse Counties. * WHEN...From 1 AM to 7 PM EST Monday. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Plan on difficult travel conditions, including during the morning commute on Monday. Winds gusting as high as 25 mph will cause patchy blowing and drifting snow. The cold wind chills as low as 30 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.
Issued
1/28/2019 1:00 AM
Expires
1/28/2019 7:00 PM
Instructions
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Expect snow covered roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

Not on sidewalks and driveways, they don't. Wrong tool for the job.
