Unfortunately, I don't believe this recent attention to the issue is coming from parents of those, or those with a real intersex designation. Most is coming from vocal and passionate young people who for one reason or another identify with the opposite sex to what they were born too. Are they mentally ill...probably not. Are they homosexual...most, but not all (not that there's anything wrong with that). Pansexuality seems to be the youth movement du jour. IMHO....They should leave the newborns out of it. |

Patrick, I sometimes forget that you are ostensibly an adult person.

Will schools now be required to add a third bathroom for the "undecided" students who don't have their driver's license yet ?
Absolutely ridiculous ! |
This law is not for the 1 in a million babies born with a physical issue. This is a socio-political agenda to say that you can decide what you want to be. Nonsense. Again, act however you want but you is what you is.

How will the parents know they have a gender unassigned baby, or a boy, or a girl? If you put faith in all this gender fluid speak, then the only one that can properly make the call is the child, after society has had its influence in the child's development.(gender is a societal construct, so we are told over and over and over) So the only sensible idea is to assign gender to none, and then let the kid chose when they are ready. In the process messing up all sorts of kids who are not gender fluid, and would be better served to be identified in alliance with their physical sex from birth. So, lets make it easy for parents to totally mentally screw up their kids before they even have a start in life, in order to maybe possibly happen to catch some of the 0.05 percent of births where gender fluidity is relevant at all. In reality, it is total crap shoot if any of the previously "misgendered" babies will even have parents that elect to use the gender neutral BC. Why change the system to accommodate the outlier? This makes no sense, unless you are really doing it to just feel good about how progressive and open minded you are. And if you are going to change the system, make it fair and equitable, and stop assigning gender on birth certificates at all. Or, read the BC, and see that IT DOES NOT ASSIGN GENDER AT ALL, IT INCLUDES THE UNDENIABLE PHYSICAL SEX OF THE BABY! Which is almost never in question, as it is binary in the vaaaast majority of cases. The same people that tell you gender and sex are different, drop that assumption when it suits their agenda. |
Why stop with gender? What if I wanted to be black or a Native American Indian?
I wish I could have picked my race when I went to college. I would have gotten into better schools with worse grades and gotten a boatload of free money instead of loans that I had to pay back. If physical facts don't determine what gender you are then why should physical facts determine what race you "identify with"? |

Unfortunately, the college admissions advantage for minorities (sans Asians) is real too...But I'd be afraid to bring that up. My wife is non-white and won the Presidential Scholarship to attend Harvard. lol |
Fair enough. Sorry for the attack. You can join Tabs and me at the next meeting. LOL Oh, wait, you have a mixed race marriage?

BTW...It's NOT a mixed race marriage. She identifies at white! |
