I think the issue was you posted a topic that has nothing to do with 911 technical issues. If it was a censoring issue, the post would have been deleted.

Milu 03-15-2003 12:59 AM

This thread was more 911 related than lots of others posted at the same time.

A little consistency please!

Considering that the E-Ram thread was allowed to uselessly continue for days....It does make a fella wonder

Haha I resisted this thread for a long time, but now I can't resist...

I have been with my current girlfriend for four years - one year longer than I've had my Porsche. At the time, I was driving a Grand Cherokee, and that's one of the reasons she was attracted to me in the first place *sigh*

She likes my car, but she doesn't like how much time and attention I give to it. Although watching Porsche Club races at Lime Rock seems to give her that "funny feeling"... I think she would melt if I got a 930.

As far as other girls go, I actually get a lot of attention from the local highschool girls about my car... I don't think they know better either way, they just see the word 'Porsche' across the rear and that's that. I doubt the same would work for gals up at Northeastern, however.

Oh, and, yes, cats are attracted to Porsches... every time i park in a friend's driveway, there are paw marks all over the hood by the time I get back.

I've just gone back a 24 hour period and found 15 topics on the 911 tech board MORE off topic than this one.

I bet the new Carrera GT would get you SERIOUS *******

And you people wonder why there aren't any women besides Sarah and IXXI on the forum. Shame on you.
Hello! I am a female and would like to add my 2 cents to this...

Although I know Frank is very into his p-car, and would give up his left arm before he'd give up his car, honestly, I could take it or leave it. Yeah, it goes fast. Yeah, it's a nice looking car. But cars aren't my thing.

But...I pay attention to it because this is my husband's hobby and he pays attention to all my hobbies (like when I drag him to the store to go shoe shopping).

Now...many of my friends have husbands that have neat cars (we have the p-car, someone else has a convertible mustang, another has a landrover.). All of the husbands are very into their cars...the wives? They pay attention, but aren't as into them as you all think. Some of them joke that it's a "mid-life crisis" thing.

Did the hubby's get the cars to attract women? I don't think so. I say that because I don't think women are attracted to cars as you all think we are.

Personally, I'm more impressed with someone who can make me laugh (which would explain one of the reasons why I married Frank in the first place)

And the big question of the hour...Why am I on this board? I want to find out how much it's going to cost to fix....I'm the #s person in the house!

Your husband has the neatest car, the others do not come close at all!

Isabo 03-27-2003 05:21 PM

I'm female and I am the Porsche nut in the family. My daughter is interested but prefers motorcycles and my husband puts up with it in return for my putting up with his motorcycles.
Like Pam and my daughter I am more attracted to the man that makes me laugh than the one who needs his car (or bike or boat) as a crutch. Any man that uses a Porsche as a crutch is so shallow as to be untouchable. I think the same is true for any woman who is attracted to the man with the Porsche.

gearhead290 03-27-2003 05:47 PM

mine works great. The girls just magically find me attractive, but when I get out I'm ugly again. DAMMIT!!! I also become every parent's favorite when they find out I drive a Porsche.

turbo6bar 03-27-2003 06:26 PM

Gotta side with the gals. I would rather have a woman like me for my sense of humor than my car. Who knows when that car will be rusted to bits, but my sense of humor will always be in my brain and ready to use at will. :)

gearhead, why do parents like the fact you have a Porsche? Is it money? :)

Jürgen

gearhead290 03-27-2003 06:41 PM

They all think I'm a lil rich boy...then they find out it's an 87 944 n/a. Too bad it's gonna get sold for a Toyota corolla AE86, I'm going to lose all pimp status.

BTW-all porsches are pretty rare in SD, well....you don't see many of them.

jyl 03-31-2003 10:01 PM

Don't know who you guys associate with, but cooking a gourmet dinner gets me more what-we're-talking-about than any car. of course, I'm married, but the principle applies to non-spouses too. Throw away 101 Projects and get thee a Joy of Cooking. You can display it on the bookshelf next to Joy of Sex, if you must.

Tinton 04-03-2003 05:03 AM

My distant relative(same name, too) has a Ferrari 360, Black on Cream. Nothing gets girls like this baby!

I will never forget what he said to me, knowing full well that I am a porsche fan. Right after he opened her up, he said, "Dont let anyone fool you, there is no porsche in the world that can make that sound"

Anthony.

motion 04-03-2003 12:20 PM

Yep Anthony... last week a friend and I were at a local upscale bar after work... the kind of place just dripping with rich middle-aged men and women looking for bux, dressed to the hilt. So we're sipping martinis out on the patio and a friend of mine cruises slowly by in his new yellow 360 Spyder. OMG... you would have thought the President had just shown up... everyone stopped talking and watched him cruise by. After about 10 seconds, there was an uproar of whispering and several of the women appeared to have trouble standing on their own.

Isabo 04-03-2003 12:22 PM

Cooking a gourmet meal is good!
Doing the washing up and housework is also good;)

Isabo 04-03-2003 12:29 PM

Nothing sounds like a Ferrari! Pure aural sex for a car buff!
As much as I love 911s I think they sound like crap.
"The sound of tearing calico..."
"The banshee wail of a full blown racing Porsche..."
...Yech!!!
The only 911 I've ever heard that has a sound even marginally close to the music of a Ferrari is one of Milu's.

Jared at Pelican Parts 04-03-2003 01:11 PM

When I had my Porsche, I never got any looks from girls.
Now that I have my BMW, I still dont get any looks from girls.

Out here, girls (at least my age, Im 24) seem to look at guys in either Jeeps or those stupid Cadillac Escalades on 24 inch wheels.

Tinton 04-03-2003 02:00 PM

Here is what I was talking about...the pics are bad because they are from my video camera. I have never in my life had so many people look in my direction. These cars do not need to sing to get people looking, so you can imagine what it was like when he was trying to make it as loud as he could. When your in the city, the sound echoes, no joke.

The best story with regards to girls, would have to be when he was in front of a club. A girl was at the back of the car, rubbing the brake lights. My other cousin said to her, "what are you doing?". She said, "oh sorry, is this your car? It has the best ass I have ever seen". He said "Its not my car, but if you think this is the best ass you have ever seen, you should see the drivers". And the rest they say, is history!

Re-reading this, there are many posts by those no longer hanging out here...and a few of us die-hards. 16 years is a long time on the net.

That’s why I sold it.

I think a more pertinent question would be did your (ahem) get you a P-car?

svandamme 06-03-2019 02:21 PM

I have 3 cats and 1 that visits for food at night, I think he's doing a trial of the house and is going to move in by winter.

Not sure if the Porsche has anything to do with that.

RANDY P 06-03-2019 03:27 PM

Well, if you open the passenger door, one leg out, recline seat....

Doesn't work very well but it kinda works ;)

My 944's get paw prints from time to time.

Long haired black and white pussy from the next road up is the primary culprit.

The pussy also goes for leaving paw prints on the driver's door, and trunk ledge of my Jaguar.

I have not seen paw prints on the Corvette.

Overall the Jaguar has had more incidents in recent times with pussy.

I've had them under the car in parking lots, perhaps seeking the ample shade provided by my automobile.

WPOZZZ 06-04-2019 05:06 AM

My 85 Carrera cab and my Boxster attract newly bald ones. They used to leave a lot of hair on the roof.

Never had a Boxster...I'm old skool...

Better check the ID of that cab cat...
Long Hood owners don't even check...

Just not period correct imo...

Every once in a while it is good to dust off the old threads. Like a book you haven't picked up in years.

Zeke 06-04-2019 05:00 PM

This thread is hilarious. Motion states a 360 had 'em turnin' heads. Later on, of course, he bought a Ferrari. Then he was gonna trade it for one day....

iffin you were here, you know the story.

john70t 06-04-2019 05:54 PM

Motion took a bike ride to Alaska but got kilt by wild Canadian savages, last I herd.

At this point, these cars are cute little Grandpa cars.
