am I a " poser " for wanting this for my truck ?
I have neglected cosmetically " Kong " my diesel 4x4 dually for too long . So recently have started doing some paint touch up , debadging and just cleaning her up . She is a 2001 but only has 169,000 miles and runs well . I am having some checkered flag graphics being designed for the hood and fenders/doors . I'm also waiting on a quote to have the lower part of the doors/rockers covered with Line X .
A few weeks ago I removed the muffler and replaced it with a straight pipe , being a turbo the muffler really isn't needed . With my stock 3 1/2 " diameter piping she has a nice growl to her but not too loud . But I'm thinking about finishing off the exhaust by installing an exhaust tip . Hence my question ( sorry for the long intro ) . Would installing this tip make me some kind of poser ? I personally think diesels look and sound good with these larger tips but I don't want to come off as a knuckle dragging goofball :( So some feedback please . |
I say it's yer truck....do what ya want too...
Besides....once you hang some gonads off the hitch...ain't nobody that matters gonna care ;)... Oh wait....I'm single :)....and outta here....ducking. |
Ummm, who cares? If you want to, go for it. Who really gives a damn what people think?

Do whatever floats your boat!

I am generally a " do what I want " type of guy but for some reason I need validation on something this stupid :D Must be age related
|
KC I'm going to pass on the truck nutz ;) While I do laugh when I see them they are not my style ........... hence I ask stupid questions about exhaust tips ! :D

All the tip will do is resonate the sound and make the truck slightly louder.

David yeah I'm trying NOT to be that guy ! Cabmando I do agree with your comments but the exhaust pipe just looks unfinished . And with dual rear tires to my eye is out of proportion that's the reason for the larger tip . I think going from 3 1/2 " to 5 " is reasonable and will look good . Plus I forgot to mention I am pulling the OEM bed off and replacing with a steel flatbed , there will be more open space to view the current setup . I think I've made up my mind .

I haven’t spoken to a grammarian about this, but I believe “poser” is appropriate when you are pimping out a truck. You need to be jollying up and expensive luxury car to join the ranks of the “poseurs.”

A 5" from a 3.5" isn't too bad. Shoot, I think there are cars running around with exhaust tips that big or nearly that big.
If you were wanting to go with 8" or something larger, then we might make fun of you. Maybe you should upgrade your hitch ball too?! http://fukushin-ind.com/other_hitch/...ballcover8.jpg Years ago, I saw a truck with one of those hitch balls and what I believe was a 12" exhaust tip. I thought that was pretty funny. I assume he was having a laugh. |
A 5 would be a good choice.
|
Just be sure to add the bag of nuts off the hitch ball.

I put one on my Mini Pickup.
https://photos.smugmug.com/Cars/n-jS...JfGqwLf-XL.jpg I think it looks awesome. :D https://photos.smugmug.com/Cars/n-jS...Fm88V83-XL.jpg I actually bought a cheap one. We were going to try to make it fit on the back of the i3. |
I'm not a big fan of the huge exhaust tips but 5" black tip on a dually would probably not look out of place.
Just to add it is pretty understated compared to those huge chrome stacks some guys do. |
You need the one that a woman can fit her head into.
