I’d really like to see Pelican make a big push with the water cooled cars. That’s the future of Porsche enthusiast owners. Most of the air cooled cars are now in collections being lightly dusted on a weekly basis, not really the target customers for a DIY forum. Right now Rennlist owns the market for the newer cars, but Rennlist sorta sucks.

As for Miatas, love those things. A new RF with the Recaro seats, Brembo brakes, and aero package would be a perfect daily driver.

+100

I have not owned a 911 since I owned my 1980 from 2004 to 2007.

Zuchenbook destroyed car forums.

I still log in here because I have a couple of friends here. Plus it is one of the few active forums left.

I check in several times a day. I belong to over a dozen forums and this ones the best. Good bunch of guys that know something bout everything.

I've gotten a tremendous education from this forum and not just about Porsche! It concerns me that the knowledge that so many members have contributed freely and profoundly may one day, disappear.

The DIY conviction here is inspiring and I hope it continues. I, for one, am not particularly happy that my 911 has sky-rocketed in value -- because (as others have written) -- collectors buying Porsches to put in private museums, don't DIY!! I hope to see that DIY spirit thrive with a younger crowd.

My thanks to everyone who participates in this wonderful forum!

Robert

This is a unique place where most everyone is comfortable enough with themselves to a point that allows them to appreciate and value the opinions and views of those around them. You guys bust on each other when you do it in a good way and are supportive and humorous at the same time. Cool place. I like it.

This is the only forum I regularly visit. I hope it sticks around for a good long time.

I was originally here for the 911 turbo charging forum and was active until I sold my car. With the 930 gone, I felt like a poser there and found my way to PPOT. I visit each night.

PPOT is my only social media (is is social media?). My other time online is spent reading the news, etc.

New guy here. I have been long term active on a couple other boards but they turned too PARFy. I do not post on them any more. I lurked here for 2 years before posting. The guys here have a sense of humor and I keep coming back because I like that. I also get a ton of great info here. Thanks for that. It would be great to be posting here 10 years from now.

I still find time to read the occasional interesting thread here, but responsibilities have encroached into my Porsche time. I consider this place Porsche related, even though OT is all that I ever read anymore. The new guys in Tech don't seem as grateful for the help as they were back in the day.

Still here. My post count sucks but my join date makes up for some of that. Not a post whore, just an enthusiast.

Fixed it for you! But that’s part of the charm isn’t it

Not sure what demographic I fit but I'm 61 and retired , been on here a long time ;) . Originally joined because I needed quite a few parts for older Porsche's . Now that I only have the Boxster which for me is as reliable as a stove I don't purchase many parts but I'm on here daily if not several times a day . I find most of the banter on here entertaining and educational . I have posted many " how do you " questions over the years on a wide variety of topics and always get good answers back . We are a very diverse group of folks here :D

I can honestly call many of you my internet friends and my personal topics have run the gamut from prostate cancer to building my man cave to everything in between :D I don't do any social media so Pelican off topic is my avenue for social connection . I am thankful to have been around when Wayne had the vision to start this community .

I pop in on a daily basis. As others have said, the range of topics makes for interesting reading. I have only one p-car lefy and it has been running flawlessly for 4 or 5 years now. Lately I have been restoring a 1971 Dodge Charger, which has consumed a considerable amount of time. I have never been a big poster to the forums. I only add my two cents that I have knowledge about.

74-911 03-03-2019 03:20 AM

Like some others, I don't have many posts over the last 18+ years but I still check in here several times a day. Always some interesting threads in the technical section and in PPOT. I have never posted about an issue with the 911 that I didn't get immediate answers or suggestions on solving the issue. Used to enjoy reading and occasionally posting in PARF but not so much now. Definitely lots of good people (and a few not so great) have come and gone over the years but there are still a lot of good ones left.

Being 72+ I have thought about selling the 911 a few times lately but hard to let it go after 35 years. Unfortunately, I believe the car scene as we know (and remember it) is going away.

scotricker 03-03-2019 03:21 AM

All the time for me. I check OT, ha ha. and tech sometimes when I need to figure out something on the 911. This is a good community of homie bros for me. I buy the parts that I need from our host Pelican. I know it's not Wayne, but they have graciously continued this free forum for all of us to enjoy and stay connected of sorts. SmileWavy

I am still on here, I've been a member since 2005 and check in twice per day. Its a fun site with great contributions automotively and otherwise.

I'm here several times a day. Great place to hang out. Always something good to read. A great source of "How to" info.
I don't post much but rear a lot. Thanks to all of you that do keep this board going .

cabmandone 03-03-2019 04:26 AM

I still hit the 911 tech section, OT and Parf but you're right, it seems to be the same users. Still LOVE the tech section due to the quality of the people that post there and in the engine rebuild section. I don't know of too many sites where you can get advice from people like Steve Wong, Sal, John Walker, Richard Parr and so many other reputable, knowledgeable people.
