I started shampooing some carpet yesterday, and our shampooer was leaking from the bottom, so... I took it apart.
After a bit of trial and error, I discovered that the side port/valve where the water/solution hose for the upholstery tool attaches to the machine was the source of the leak. It is called a "quick disconnect assembly," and I found the end cap popped up on one side caused by a broken locking tab on the inside of the part. I could put my mouth on the inlet tube, blow, and hear air passing through but when I pushed the end cap down as it should be and blew through the inlet tube, no air would pass through. I searched online for the part, but it is not manufactured anymore, so I decided to try and fix this one. I have some black epoxy and clamped the part so that the end cap would be seated properly, then mixed up the epoxy and filled in the slot where the locking tab would be. I also epoxied the other side for good measure even though that locking tab was intact. Now, I will have to wait a day or so, put it all back together, and see what happens. If my "fix" doesn't work, then I will just plug the hose that connects to the "quick disconnect assembly." I won't be able to use the upholstery tool but would still be able to use the machine for cleaning the carpet. After moving the seat back and installing the Momo steering wheel with an extension in the 911, my last task was to extend the shift lever. I bought a used one, cut it and welded in a 3 inch rod, that I turned down the ends to insert, for extra stability

Now, I’m just waiting for the new knob to come in, to finish it.

Well, drat!!! The endcap of the "quick disconnect assembly" is still popped up a little, allowing water to still pass through and leak. I need to find a clamp with a smaller surface area so that I can put epoxy around the inside edges of the end cap on the part. So... I plugged the hose for now and put the machine back together so that it can still be used as a carpet shampooer. I consider it a small victory as I didn't have any leftover parts and got all the different sized screws in their correct locations!!! [emoji28]

Replaced the touchscreen portion of the radio on Ms Rockets 2015 Tahoe. It probably took about an hour.

Replaced the cooling system on the 2025 Tahoe. Water pump, thermostat, belts, tensioner, heater hoses, etc. Unfortunately, I dropped one water pump bolt in the ether, never to be found. Need to get another bolt today, before I fire it up. It was rather easy* compared to my 2014 F150.

*Except the heater hose fittings at the firewall. The only way to reach remove them I found is to break the tabs with screwdrivers.

Playing with a new (to me) stripper. It works... sort of. You need to leave it overnight, and it doesn't melt through multiple layers nearly as well as MC...

That stripper still makes a holy mess, even without the Methylene Chloride.

I guess my big fixin' event today was the garage compressor, I located and fixed an air leak in the plumbing. I'm happy it's done, but talk about small victories!

Ha.....same thing happened when I replaced the water pump on my Silverado.....only it was 2 of them! Was able to scrounge a couple from my spare that helped me finish the job. But I must have spent a half hour looking for the 2 that disappeared.....:rolleyes:

Thanks... German company, makes damn good screwdrivers really gutt tips with comfortable grips that allow for alot of torque..
That's about $80 worth of drivers... try that with your snap on guy.

This is the set the Ukranian had who transported my last Interceptor here. He used it to loosen the front brake caliper so we could roll the bike easier.

I keep plenty of tools here at my house....and quite a few in the truck. But sometimes I take the Volvo and don't have any tools with it, outside of the factory kit, which is not that much.

So thinking of what would make the most sense as a mobile set, without something overly enormous......

I took the alternator out of my 911 today. The bearings were going bad. I will get it rebuilt by a local guy that assures me he will use quality bearing, and no Chinesium crap.

Now I need to clean the fan and housing up. I will try to find a dry ice cleaner. Then decide it I need ceracoat, or just leave it as a raw finish of magnesium.

It's a very compact set. I'm considering one for my in aircraft bag but I need it in standard. They have some seriously interesting sets.
