Coconuts aren't supposed to be used this far north in Florida but our winters freeze events are unpredictable so we try to get away with a lot of stuff we probably shouldn't.

I have 3 Coco trees I planted several years ago - all loaded with fruit. Def. feels like da islands here.....

I'd like those in my yard, lucky no freeze here in San Diego 20 minutes from the ocean.
I like the unusual structure, as if they grew on another planet. :)

In another part of the yard, a Cycad called Dioon spinulosum and to it's right a young palm called Satakentia liukiuensis (native to Japan). Second photo is what they look like when mature.....;)

Friend of mine asked for my help - her irrigation valves weren't closing, apparently. She had some site work done a couple years back and they dug up some of the pipes so there's also those repairs. But for now - start with getting the valves working.

I bought new diaphragms, thinking it'd be an easy swap out repair.

I've never seen this - apparently roots came in from somewhere down stream and into the valves. No wonder they weren't closing!

It's possible a root came in through just one pipe and then split off into the others.

Repairs should be interesting......

We use safety wire on high vibration fasteners, we don't use the stripes.
Between races the car gets a through nut and bolt.. :)

Managed to get the 5th color on. Wet sand and touch ups then clear coat.

I recently tightened up a loose toilet seat...

obvious slippage, you paint stripe the bolts? ;)

I know you're kidding around, but I know of grown men who struggle to understand tasks like this.

I got the fender liner out of the old Golf Cabriolet yesterday. One of of the screws was not the proper grade and so corroded. I had to dremel and drill it out. Also there should be a place in hell for people who replace trim screws with rivets. A five minute job to get at the antenna turned into 3/4 hour. I got the proper fasteners today, along with the new antenna.

That's the major issue here, it's not your traditional ceconite, Randolph or polyfiber job... It's epoxy primer over ultralight sail envelope fabric with exposed stitching.... Major brain damage, in terms of the work required and all of the little ins and outs.

Yes herr O the registration on the masks took 2 days one per wing..... But so much better then using traditional methods....

And ya.... The light at the end of the tunnel isn't a train this time around.

Touching up the bare spots on my Interceptor with Gloss Black Rustoleum and a small paintbrush.

Not too concerned right now with aesthetics - that will come down the road with a complete tear down and rebuild.

Right now just preserving and making sure mechanicals and electronics are all in proper nick.

Ran into a hidden tree at 30 mph, ripped off upper and lower a-arm and bent the shock on my Kawasaki KRX 1000. :(:mad::eek::rolleyes:

! That looks ouchy. Got a welder or at least a big buffing pad?

In order to route the antenna lead for the radio in the Golf Cabriolet, the dash facia has to come out. I had heard every VW dash of this vintage has cracked and broken fastener holes. I guess I'm lucky. Only two. JB weld is my friend , but no washers small enough to fit into the spaces.. 15 minutes with hacksaw and files and and two (rough) washers are in hand and stuck in place.
Reassembly is the reverse of disassembly. I hope.

This was almost as much fun as making a hood prop hold down clip from a hard plastic block.
