Brake fluid flush today. Our support for Ukraine demonstrated by our choice in shocks! ;)

Ukraine shock absorbers - cool. Nice touch.

I Fix-It'ed up the neighbors woods by destroying what was left of a studebaker. It pretty much fell to pieces with a little tug.

Received a few new parts today.....will get the rest of what I need by Tuesday next week. In the meantime I tidyed up the garage a little - did a little re-organizing - and aired up the tub tyres in preparation. Nothing like having a good brakes! :)

Cool, Steve. Sounds a lot like my old 912 engine. What distributor are you going to run? I'd highly recommend an RS0012 by Benton.

Decided to change the oil in my wife's CR-V yesterday.
Should have used a second layer of 2x4's to get just a tad higher off the ground. She doesn't like me using my jack when she's not home and being the honest guy I am I don't use it. Sure is nice having Mobil 1 delivered to my door cheaper than I can buy it anywhere locally.

Thanks Scott;) I rebuilt the stock 022, going to give it a whirl to start with, also rebuilt the generator fields, brushes and bearings. Running Weber 40 IDF;s with 32mm vents and jets to support the displacement. Really looking forward to driving it again, I'm embarrassed to say how long it's been;)

I would HIGHLY recommend getting it on a 'rolling road' dyno to sniff it to see how the jetting is working out. It made a world of difference to my car and that was after Benton had tuned it. Seat of the pants is close, but that only counts in hand grenades.

Sent you a PM Steve.

Steve F, that just looks cool. I LOVE that car color, and the fresh installation looks just right.

Well done! I'm jealous!

So today I picked up a train I won on the GW site. Engine, four cars, track and transformer too, along with a nice set of the good LGB wire hookups to the track.
Had fun just hosing the cars off to clean them up. They weren't that bad but my grandkids will be handling these so I wanted them fairly clean.
Got it home and unpacked it, hooked it up and it ran like a top.
I can live with that. More rolling stock added to the inventory.

^^^ Very cool, Scott - nice score! Your grandkids are lucky to have such a caring grandfather.

Do you have a caboose - or is that something you'd even want to acquire?

It's a nice assortment - love the Esso tank car!

Scott Douglas 05-26-2022 05:20 PM

You had to mention the caboose...I missed a really nice one yesterday as I didn't want to incur the wrath of my wife by bidding on it. I have a couple of cabooses, but the one I missed was a nice double truck US style one. We now have two Chiquita cars and two Esso tankers.
That last car is a very heavy duty car I'm thinking will make a good platform for my camera for those 'on train' videos.

behold.... SKY CRANE!!!!!!!

(sorta).

It's that beautiful moment when you realize you have so much crap, you can combine it in different ways to come up with something completely new, and strangely practical.

Take that ladders!!!!!

This thing is tops for being able to back over flower beds and being able to get at painting/powerwashing the house. I will be working on SUPER SKY CRANE in the future- stay tuned!

Just plugging away on the E28. When I bought this car there was evidence of past episodes of a wet trunk. My big concern was did the sound deadener trap water and rust out the trunk floor? Only one way to find out; I pried up all the factory material - it's this weird super-dense asphalt stuff that weighed 50 pounds (seriously, I weighed it). To my relief, the floor is solid. I made some minor repairs, wire-brushed what little surface rust there was and put down a layer of POR15 (just in case). Today I finally had a sunny enough free day to cut and stick the fake dynamat.
Scrubbed the carpet pieces and they're hanging on a clothesline in the sun.
I don't know when or if this car will ever be done, but I enjoy making slow progress on something built this well and big enough for me to crawl around in.
edit - the seat bulkhead is heavily padded inside the cabin, but I had those two "L" shaped pieces left in the scraps and I just couldn't help myself.
