Still more splitting & cutting to do. I needed more storage, so made another fire wood rack out of scrap I had around here.

Started replacing the archaic radio in my C6. It took more time unhooking the wiring to the seat heaters, cig lighter, and hazard switch.
I have to wire in an interface so the steering wheel controls will still work

I've been inserting LED light fixtures into PVC pieces, used as a housing for the lamp, for a while now.

They have all been used as uplights - shining upwards into a palm trunk/canopy.

The other day I got the idea to insert the lamps into both ends....so one can shine up and the other down.

When designing landscape lighting - many times one tries to balance out uplighting with downlighting anyway.

I get these LED lamps from Amazon - they are color changing and can be set to any color along with various settings. I usually just set it on one color and leave it that way.

Find the right diameter pipe, cut some pieces, drill out an opening for the wires, spray paint to match palm trunk (brown), insert lamps, seal with silicone, and you are set to install.

I finished 4 of them tonight and will install tomorrow and report back with working pics.

Not sure how I will attach them yet but will think of something.....

No, i unhooked the HVAC control just to gain more access to the wiring

Threw the light fixture up on the trunk of one of my Queen Sagos using a bungee cord just to test it out and see how it looked. So far I like what I see. Not sure how difficult it will be to make one lamp one color and the other another. So far both seem to react the same even when I put the nose of the remote right on the lamp lens on one of the fixtures. Will have to play around more with it.

Nice job, I've been looking for some new LV LED hockey puck size lights.
I prefer a color filter as opposed to plain white lighting in the garden.
After 10 years I only have one left that lights my 30 foot tall queen palm.
Since the sprinklers have been off all winter needed to readjust 100+ drip irrigation emitters.
Pool is 86, outside temp 82, this weekend is the first swim of the season.

Thanks, Ted! That triple trunk looks like an Alexander Palm, Archontophoenix alexandrae. One of my favs. I have about 6 of them here and 4 of the other species, Archontophoenix cunninghamiana - the Bangalow or Piccabeen Palm.

Sounds like you have some work to do. here as well. The two hurricanes we had plus early freezes in December took it's toll on a lot but good news is much is in recovery and we have a whole growing season ahead.

On the lighting - I love it. I have a ton of lighting already but there's much room for improvement. Hard to beat low-voltage LED stuff - so easy to spice in whatever you want and change it out as needed.

These latest LEDs I used came from Amazon. A 16 pack for $143: CLICK

Using sections of PVC pipe for a housing has worked out great! I feel I'm still at a very early design stage and will continue to make improvements with time. It's a lot of fun to play with this stuff.

Spent two hours under my Tundra looking for a clunk that was getting louder. (Brushed some rust off too cause it’s a Canadian salt Toyota)

Our 7 month old toy Aussiedoodle, Daisy decide that she liked chewing up the edge of the carpet where a hallway meets the living room and the carpet meets up with hardwood. The carpet was folded under making a nice transition to the hardwood. So, anyway with the edge of the carpet chewed up, I had to add a hardwood transition piece to cover the edge of the carpet. Now I will stain it to match the floor.
We are considering reflooring the entire house but this will do for now.

Prepping for the cross country drive to disassemble this old bird... and trailer it home. It's a CAP 10b. It has around 1200 hours on it and should be great for building tailwheel time, as soon as the firewall forward checks out.

Tried to fire up the old Craftsman mower the other day, but no joy. It has a 21hp V twin with the fuel tank under the seat. Determined there was no gas getting to the carb, so a trip to town secured a new fuel pump. That was when I realized the fluid being pumped was not gasoline, but water. The clear plastic over the gauge in the gas cap was missing a piece, which had admitted water to the tank. Drained all the water, added methyl hydrate, cleaned the carb and what do you know? It fired right up. Despite the rumors of old B&S engines being able to run on just about anything, apparently they draw the line at water.

Replaced all of the spinny things in a Samsung dryer (but the drum or motor) - in today's world of non-repairability I was pleasantly surprised that it was pretty easy and that service manuals were easily found online. Now the spinny things are mostly silent and far less eager to become breaky once-spinny things.

Also I'm amused that due to my recent/temporarily jacked up back and neck Mrs mjohson did most of the work. As she's a chemical engineer usually we just rely on her for plumbing (that's basically what ChEs do, right?) but she did good mechanical work. Perhaps she has earned her apprentice mechanical merit badge...

Finally finished up re-plumbing my entire house from galvanized steel pipe to PEX. The house is about 40 years old and the old pipe was springing leaks all over the place. Managed to not make too many holes in the walls, ceilings and floors to get it done. Getting real good at drywall repair. I used the old pipe to fish the new PEX through the walls by attaching the PEX to one end and pull the galvanized pipe through the wall a few feet at a time and sawing it off piece by piece with metal cutting blade in a sawzall. Fortunately there were no unions hiding in the wall that could not go through the holes in the studs.

Speaking of plumbing. We changed the water filter today and the new filter seemed to be floating and not sealing. After much discussion we ended up putting a coned O ring for drainpipe in the bottom to take up the space and it solved the dilema. During all that we kind flushed out the line without the filter housing on and so much brown and purple stuff came out from the pressure tank side. It must have just backed up through the line from filter. Being flushed out fast blew it out rather running slow through the filter. So thats something ill be doing every time the filter gets changed.

Then, thought of ways of adding ventilation through the hood, to keep things cool.

That’s freaking awesome!!!! Keep us posted and feel free to add some exploits in the aviation thread too.

I worked on my fuel system. Discovered that every single banjo screw clamp on all fuel lines were loose, finger tight at best.
replacing the antiquated but functional fuel valve with an Allen. Not much room to wedge my fists of ham in the small space but I am making headway.





Eliminating the fuel filters because there is a gasgolator installed on the firewall, which I am swapping out for a newer version.
