3 years ago, I had the same happen. Driving a rental on the Sawgrass Exp in Ft Lauderdale...came to the exit..no toll booth??
A week later a $45 bill arrives.
Called the rental co and they took care of it.
Now...whenever I rent out of FLL..they ask if planning to use toll roads and the rate is higher.

Mrs. Lee works for the company that administers those tolls for rental car fleets. It's an absolute cash cow.
