I'm amazed how businesses miss the easy things.

Just had new tires put on my car. Car was clean, rims were clean. I pick up and there is stuff all over the rims and tires. The guys said it was the soap used to protect the rims. That's fine but there are also oil prints on the silver.

I ask the guy for a rag to clean. He went out and cleaned but they are still dirty. Rather than hurting his feelings, I said I will just finish later.

Just strange to me because cleaning the wheel is the easy part. Heck, I can do it. I wanted to pull in and be like "wow, I am glad I got these". Not so much. Tires are nice but if they can't even make the tires look new (which they are, they left the sticker on them) how good are they at balancing.

If I was an owner, I would be pissed. I won't go back or recommend. I will contact owner.

Some they do and some they don't — and some you just can't tell.

—Supertramp

I've had it both ways. I just go home and wash the wheels and maybe put some non gloss dressing on them.

At least the waitress didn't grab the water glass from the table behind her when you asked for a glass of water.

Happened at a Denny's in SoCal.

We have a couple vendors that attention to detail is a phrase they have never heard of, but most are very good about the service they provide.

I just wiped the soap off of 8 race tires I mounted yesterday. I am going to say this again. Make your expectations known the the tire shop .
99.9% percent of the population does not give two hoots about a little smear of some white mounting paste on a tire that will be gone in 2 days anyhow .

In January, I had new Michelins installed on my F350 at the dealer--went to pick up the truck, and all of the frigging blue was still on the RWL. Got the service manager, pulled into the detail bay and had the detail guy clean/brush the coating off--WTH?

I could care less on my daily driver, or my 911s for that matter. Just wash it later. That's just me. Now, for my clients, when we leave the job, its cleaner then when we walked in the first day, but if its a small remodel or not the whole house, I am not cleaning the whole house unless owner request for it to be clean. Thank goodness for my cleaning ladies

I suspect they leave the stickers on the tires because a bunch of douche nozzles in the past have questioned if they had in fact received new tires.

New tires last summer on my old RV, it had TPMS valves on all six I even told the guy, he got every single one mixed up. Maybe he didn't understand the concept of a Tire Pressure Monitoring System.

A lot of businesses are on the brink of collapse so service goes out the window in an attempt to cut costs.
It's always been dog eat dog out there but recently things seem a lot more desperate.

On-line sales have had a huge impact on prices in B&Ms. Volume is the key even if you just breaking even with each sale.
Anything to keep the doors open?

Every body should have to mount tires for a week before they are allowed to complain about it

This is what I was thinking.

I agree, ideally you don't have to say a word. And everything is done as well as possible to your satisfaction.

But unfortunately in this age - you have to be specific about as many things as necessary.

As least in these parts some tire customers WANT the blue left on the tires, to let everyone know they have new tires I guess. I had a flat a few months back. A nice big deck screw right at the sidewall edge to the tread. It meant a new tire for me.

While I was picking it up, that manager was telling his tire tech to go unmount the new tires, and put on 4 tires with the blue still on it, like the work order said. The customer had made it clear, he wanted the blue left on the tires.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't I guess.

Around here there is one shop I will never visit again if possible. (USA Tire)

Fortunately they are not my only options.

As the saying goes good help is hard to find. Most of the time poor service is a result of a bad employee Most owners try hard to keep the customer satisfied if they expect repeat business. Unfortunately some employees just do not care. I always love hearing my customers feedback on my employees which thankfully is usually but when it is negative I do my best to make it right with the customer. Sometimes you just have no choice but to keep a bad employee who shows up everyday even though you really would like to get rid of them

I have used Western Tire in Burbank for the last 25 years. Started by a guy and his 3 sons, the sons run the business, are car guys and employ top notch people.

Yeah, they may be a little more expensive than the discount places (maybe 10%) but they always give great advice (even suggesting cheaper tires) and stand by everything they sell and work on. They are always busy with a dedicated customer base that swears by them. I have no problem throwing a little extra $$$ their way for great service.

My husband and I refer to it as the 70% rule. Most work is done to 70% of standard.
