Some, but not enough. The cost was about the same due to the height of the foundation wall. The northwest corner would have had almost 5 feet of block wall, with a lot of additional fill pushing out against it. Also, the 6 foot double door is for golf cart and mower access, so it will have a ramp. Lowering the floor on the north end allows a shorter ramp that encroaches on the existing driveway less. It costs a little more, but the benefits are worth it.

Cool garage build. Some day I'll have to show all you guys what my brother has been doing at his new place. I've been helping and taking pictures as we go.
Are you putting in a single post lift?

Did you core fill the block? Between ladder wire and core fill, you could easily go 5’ high.

But, the easy access to back is nice.

We had planned to make it one level using techniques such as you describe, but as soon as someone (MrsWD) mentioned how much better it would be for us to have two levels the engineer and the contractor both said “Oh heck yes!”

Make sure house attachments are angled so water drips outward, not into the house.

(Electrician found that in mine)

Good news. I called the local power company and asked what the monthly cost was to maintain a meter. My last place it was $29 a month. Here - $8. So that option is looking very attractive.
