10 years ago today

I told Cindy to write the check for $30,075. For better or worse, a new '09 Bullitt Mustang was all ours. Today it's odo showing 29,500 trouble free miles.

No pedestrian deaths or injuries to report. Something must be wrong.

Good, great even.

Just as long as you didn't have to sell anything to buy it (sorry cruel taunt - I must be jealous.)

You could always drive to Portland to see some homeless shyte in the street. That would be quite a sight to see.

I've called Portland "The big sh***y" For quite some time. A shame what has happened to a once lovely small city. It's definitely among the places I don't want to go to.

Paul, you'd likely drive it more if you weren't playing with your balls.

I agree.

The Stang has been a good car for you Paul. It has the modern comforts you want, and does everything you need from a car.

Keep up the good posts.

I never really got into pool. My dad helped pay for his college playing pool. He never bet big, but he made enough extra walking around money to make it worthwhile.

Hey, it really did happen that way. Cindy had the checkbook in her purse. The price had been agreed upon. The sales manager trying to talk us into making payments to Ford credit instead of writing the check. I listened to his pitch, which would have cost us several thou more, then told Cindy to write the check.

Yes, in the current Mustang pecking order, the '09 Bullitt is now old, slow, and obsolete. However, it's lowly 315 horses, tied to a lower 3:73 rear end fits my current car needs well enough. Hardly a thrill ride, but at this stage of life, I don't want that. 500 plus horsepower is no place for this old man although the 350 GT is one hell of a package for the track day set.

Pool..I'm strictly a recreational banger. Meaning, a guy who plays poorly for fun only.
But today is the 2nd day of a big $$$ matchup going on in Ft. Worth. $50K on the line, lots of side betting action. 10 ball, race to 50 games won. The best in the USA, Shane Van Boening vs. Chang, Tiawan's best. At the end of day one, Chang was way ahead...25 to 11. Poor Shane...now he's a bit like the ageing boxing champ, lots of young, skilled, and hungry players coming for him. It's the way of all sports..

The art of pool hustling is more about choosing the right matchup than being the best shooter. Problem is, after a good hustler/player becomes too well known, his only option is to enter the tournament trail. My honorary nephew (son of a deceased buddy who was like a brother) is in that boat...he's one of the top five big fish in the small pool pond of Oregon. Everybody knows him, few want to play him for the cash.
If he matched up with any of the top 100 in the world? He'd get his brains beaten in.

Is your dad still with you? If so, ask him if he'd like to go to a pool hall in your area on father's day. He'd probably love it. I'm talking a real pool hall, not a seedy dive with a few coin-op tables. Alas, in this age of video games, real pool halls are a vanishing bit of Americana.

As much as I would love to spend any time with dad he died several years ago at age 82. Most every pool hall I have been into sold beer, and had smokers stinking up the place.

Ahhh PWD....there was a 100 year old guy in Ohio that bought himself a 500 hp Camaro...read that in the newspaper..

Then there was the old geezer who remembered the San Francisco earthquake of of 06..thats 1906...who was 102 and still went to work everyday

Now my friend in So CA that works in a grocery store warehouse says that the top seniority guy has 55 years in and is 88, sucks up all the OT he can get and drives a brand new Vette.

Yep PWD you are old..

My Mother has always told me not to hang around pool halls cause only bad sort of characters hang around there, loafers, bar fly's and grifters... No sort of decent man would be caught dead in one of those dens of inequity... She says you pick up bad habits of smoking cigarettes, drinking whiskey, picking up bad language and reading Captain Billy Wizbang...and that is not to mention the loose women...

come think of it, at 2700 miles a year, it probably never got a real chance at a crowd...
it's been kept in the dark to long

Paul, I was kidding

29.5k in ten years is remarkable - I did nearly that in one big year in my Tundra.

Yikes!
