I didn't see if anyone mentioned this: the dip is not the same as spray carb cleaner. It's much stronger (smells like creosote).

I worked at a bicycle shop with a warehouse in back that used to be a car repair shop. The car repair shop left a 55 gallon drum of carb dip behind when their lease was up. We were pretty pissed at first until we realized we could put a bicycle frame in the drum and pull it out completely stripped of paint the next day.

Yes of course. Ive cleaned my share of carbs, but Just never dipped anything.I have a set of Honda gaskets. There are actually kits that have new jets, needle, gaskets, and floats for the same price but apparently they don’t always fit very well.

There’s no need to buy one of those kits. Buy the individual parts you need and nothing else. Jets don’t wear out, with the exception of needle jets and emulsion tubes. Those can be checked for wear when you disassemble the carbs. Floats don’t need to be replaced unless they have a hole in them. Float valve assemblies generally don’t need to be replaced until the wear on the float needle is visible. I would suggest that you replace all of the O-rings with parts sourced through Honda to make sure you get the correct ones. Most of the aftermarket suppliers supply things that are “close” but not exactly correct. Replace the float bowl gaskets every time you take the bowls off, if the gaskets have not been replaced recently. They are usually essentially o-rings and they take a set fairly quickly.

Like I said, if you’ll show some pictures of one of the carb bodies, I’ll tell you whether you ought to have it dipped in the carb dip, or not.

really aren't that expensive. Great multipurpose tool.

Even a 10 liter size liquid heated machine, is only $85

Ultrasonic and SimpleGreen (or other) works great.
