Smile Gifts of Imperfections - Let go of who you think you're supposed to be....

Stellar.

One of Forbes "5 life changing books you must read"

A recent e-book I bought and downloaded. Hits home for me. I like to share.

you each owe me .99 cents. grins.

sort of a inner reflection. Who Am I........ ? and why do I do what I do?

Like many, we porsche owners often strive for the unattainable.

our own worst critic is between our ears.

EMBRACE who YOU are!

I pass this good karma on

forward this to others if it helps.

"People may call what happens at midlife “a crisis,” but it’s not. It’s an unraveling—a time when you

unraveling is a time when you are challenged by the universe to let go of who you think you are
supposed to be and to embrace who you ARE

works for me

I’ve only recently realized that who I was meant to be was an adventurer

2017 stats do not include the three cross continent driving/riding months worth an additional 100,000km and 60 more days

2019 is off to a good start

I should never have been domesticated...

The gift I received was in the downsizing of our sales staff in '03. I have said many times, if I had known then what I know now, I would have kissed my boss on the mouth when he advised me my position would be gone in eight months. There were positions open in the city, but I had sense enough to walk away into a better life.
Now I do things which are fun for me. Much better.

Best

Still trying to wrap my brain around being challenged by the universe. As far as I can tell the only thing that has challenged me is my own limitations but then I passed mid life crisis about 15 years ago and settled into who I yam

In the same way, people seeking a path to lasting contentment with the benefit of some good spikes of true happiness might find this book helpful. https://www.amazon.com/Achieving-Lasting-Happiness-Positive-Change-ebook/dp/B00359FCWO and yes, I researched and wrote it.

I could honestly see myself as a solo RV traveler who follows the sun, and adventure. Fish some of the Western rivers, hike the grand canyon, explore the desert, commune in nature away from civilization, and noise.

Self help books are all good and well as they give you ideas, plant seeds for thought so to speak. Then the real journey begins.

What we should be is ourselves, true to ourselves. Authentic. Many times we are not. Circumstances of our lives, extengicies dictate that we do something other to get along or survive. Then there is your personal and family narratives which are usually intertwined which binds you not only to a course of action but shapes the way you think.

The idea here is to achieve self determination. To be free of the internal constraints so that you can be true to yourselves to be authentic. So that you can move in the direction of achieving or doing the thing in the world that fits who you are...sic to be your self.

If you live everyday like its your last you will never have a mid-life crisis.

I don't always have a plan, but I don't stay in situations I don't like either. I have left jobs and changed cities to make myself happier. I sure I wanted to get married, but I made sure that if I did, it wasn't going to be to someone I hated in a few decades. (I can thank my parents for that lesson.) I've had a "fun" car since I was 25.

I'm not a planner, but I work hard to avoid failure and unhappiness. As such, I don't feel the need to second-guess or my decisions as I know I made the best ones possible.

I think "mid life crisis" are more about finally treating yourself to what you want after 25 years of marriage, raising kids, and being the resposnible adult in the room, working overtime for years for little pay, and seeing some of your friends start to die.

One of my wife's friends heard that I have a "Porsche 911" and she asked my wife if it was a "mid life crisis purchase" and she said it can't be. She told her I got my first Porsche and age 19 and have had one ever since. It was not ego, or look at me thinking that got me into Porsches.

I fell in love with a 911 in 1967. I was too young and way too broke to own one. I worked hard to earn the money to order a new 914 and have loved Porsches the majority of my life.

We live in a paid for house and the only debt I have is in a business loan for a Cessna 182T that we could sell for lots more that is owed on it.
