yesterday was just one of those days
So yesterday was supposed to be a quiet Easter day for my wife and I , we had no real plans which is one of the great things about being retired
 . So I finally decided I was going to mow the lawn which is about 1.5 acres of our 2.5 acre property . The tool to do this is a 1986 John Deere model 330 garden tractor with a 50 " deck . Engine is a sweet 3 cylinder water cooled diesel Yanmar . And so I started mowing .I was aprox. half way done when I looked down at the dash just to make sure nothing wrong going on and there is a mystery fluid  pouring out of the dash and all over the fender pan and my feet ! I immediately stopped and while the tractor was running slowly opened the hood . There was a small geyser of diesel fuel spraying straight up from a rubber hose that obviously had a pin hole in it . Oh well not the end of the world I'll just grab some rubber fuel line from my stash-o-parts and be done . None to be found  So off to FLAPS to get 1 ' of hose and some new clamps , got her put back together and started her up . Ran rough as I expected being a diesel had to work out some air in the line . About 2 minutes later she cleared up and all was good ........... or so I thought . I finished mowing the front yard which is gentle rolling land . Then headed to the back which in spots is quite steep and a little rutted . I was mowing along and it seemed to me it was steering difficult . I looked at the right front spindle and it was 3/4 of the way out of the axle !!! The external snap ring apparently decided to flee to the border  and was somewhere in the yard . So I did my best to gently mow and completed the task . Have to get another snap ring and she'll be fixed . So much for the easy day

Been there, done that, have the tee shirt.
Ya just got to look at the bright side. The fuel didn't catch fire, the wheel didn't fall off. You had dinner with your wife and it wasn't hospital food. Day didn't go like you planned, but could have been way worse.

I've been fortunate- tractors have been cooperating lately.
Yesterday, I was out in the yard attending to a dry creek bed which has become the mississippi delta since the recent rains. In the middle is a sycamore, the roots of which have diverted the stream and turned the yard into a mud bog. It was 65 degrees and brilliantly sunny. The new spring growth was green and the air fresh. The stream (river) was fresh mountain water runoff. Crisp, cold, and clear. Clean enough do drink. I got to a point where I was chopping some roots with a long axe, and every time I'd take a swing, the roots would splash the water right back at me, completely drenching me in the process. Soaking wet, covered in mud and fresh cold spring mountain water, I felt like a kid again. Happiest I've been in quite some time. Very refreshing!

Today I picked up another snap ring , installed it and all in the universe is lined up again . I agree this was no big deal it was just annoying .

wait until the diesel that leaked all over the turf starts to do it's thing. you should see if you can determine where the leaking fuel starts and ends then re-mow those passes at the lowest setting to get as much of the soiled turf up as possible.
don't know if watering it would be good or bad as it could sink into the soil affecting the roots. maybe simply after the additional low mow let the sun have it was with it for a few days to aid in evaporating the remaining fuel.

Flat bedded by Mustang to the shop today. Bad fuel pump. Came home, jumped in Mercedes to head to work....tire was @ 15bs. Has a slow leak. *sigh* At least my beat to shiat F-150 got me to work.
