Looking for speaker recommendations
I love high end vintage stereo equipment. Needed a new receiver for my shop and happened upon this B&K AVR307 receiver on CL. Doing a little research, it was a true monster back in the early 2000s, 7.1 at 150 watts per channel and originally sold for $3500. Today's price, with remote, $175. It's unlike any other receiver I've ever seen. You program it with an onscreen display, a little annoying, but I'm getting the hang of it. It's nearly infinitely variable in the sound it puts out. Anyway, it produces amazing sound and I'll need some vintgey speakers to do it justice in 2 channel mode.

How many watts per channel...in 2 ch stereo mode?
I have some vintage Polks...the largest of my 3 sets....they freakin' rock the whole 20-20k spectrum....180lbs each  .

Energy Veritas V2.8 were well regarded as a full range speaker and not obscenely expensive when they were new.
Of course, there’s probably dozens of others, as well. |

I have had my Definitive Technology towers and subs for over twenty years. They
still sound great and are very good home theater speakers as well. Powered by a Marantz receiver. The newer models get great reviews as well |

Ian (Imcarther) really helped me out when I was looking for help on my home theater equipment.
The only thing I didn't listen to him on was the amp and that is the only thing that I am unhappy with. I don't think Ian comes around here much anymore. Good guy. Speakers I am using are Focals and they have been flawless.

I miss Ian....hasn't been around in a long time...he never commented on vintage Polks...classy....he was in another league with the "stuff" he played with...and just a cool guy

There are dozens of fantastic classic speakers.
If you can find a pair of Ohm F's, they are glorious. IMF TLS-80's are wonderful if you have the room. Dahlquest DQ 10's More simple smaller speakers like stacked Advents or the old classic JBL 100's have the classic sounds as well. Try playing some vinyl through any of the above. WOW Enjoy Gary |

i have a vintage set of Time Windows. Developed by the heads in Ann Arbor. Still using a set today

DCM time windows brings back another set of good memories. Fabulous speaker. I owned several of the ones I mentioned above, but the time windows were another terrific sounding set.

My brother worked for a company that sold and installed these:
https://www.sunfire.com/ They are period correct to your receiver and I am sure you can find some used ones on ebay. Their subwoofer is mind blowing. Tiny and will probably rock your shop. I have a 5 speaker setup of these in my living room along with a 10" subwoofer, the sound is amazing.

 Anything that Bob Carver (a fan) does (Sunfire, etc.)....I'd consider....YMMV....mine doesn't...2-ch only These are my large Polks baby brother ....  ^^^^ SDA....two of those are being driven by an interconnect to the right channel speaker...it's amazing...it just is. If you've never heard these SDAs setup properly....well I have...

The Polk ribbons are interesting speakers with issues.
My mains are Ohm 4's. Any of the above are good. I'd also suggest you check out some Vandersteins.
