The complimentary hotel breakfast.
Not that I would, but I think you could get a free breakfast daily at hotels.
I’m in Sacramento getting certification training. My hotel has no breakfast. The hotel my class is at; BOOM! Eggs anyone? It just dawned on me. ![]() If times get tough.....(green font for this entire post, I’m in Sacramento bored) |

Yeah, but does it have a "waffle station"?

Just don't beeline from your car in the morning to the waffle station. Be smart about blending into the hotel lobby before you get in line for those golden brown batter cakes....

I've often thought that if you were hungry but could keep yourself clean and put on a suit (not for long I bet) you could make a circuit of hotels with free breakfasts. Just don't frequent the same one very often.
...of course those "free" breakfasts are usually pretty awful. Powdered eggs, reheated "meat patties", etc..

Stayed at an embassy suites for about 6 months when I first moved to Seattle. There were regulars that I would see coming in from the parking lot for that.

When I book hotels for my trips one of the criteria is free breakfast. It can save so much time in the morning. Pop down for breakfast, back to the room, pack up and hit the bathroom and hit the road. Loading up, driving down the street to a local place and paying for breakfast is just a lot more time consuming.

Free breakfast at hotels are garbage IMO. High sugar, high fat, high carb - just awful

My brother puts us up in a BW when I come up to help with his new shop build.
Breakfast there is great. Scrambled eggs, bacon or sausage, cresent rolls, waffles, cereal, juice, muffins, fruit, just about anything you would want. It really saves us time in the morning when we want to get out to his place and get working.

Late last year there was a local "breakfast bandit" that was stealing breakfast just like is mentioned above. The speculation is due to the attention brought on the news - he hasn't resurfaced.
https://www.foxnews.com/food-drink/georgias-breakfast-buffet-bandit-no-longer-freeloading-at-area-hotels-but-still-at-large-police-say “He's either not from our area, or he's laying low. Given the amount of attention this received in town and the lack of credible leads after we put his face out there, it's possible that he was passing through our area on the interstate,” a spokesperson told Fox News.

![]() I stay in the Hilton Chain 50 to 75 nights a year and the free breakfast can be healthy. I usually grab the "to go bag" on my way out. There is, however, a Hampton Inn in NC that serves the best biscuits and gravy on the planet: I know, I know but the breakfast also comes with a complimentary stent.

This a great place in Bethel Main. A German restaurant and pub. In the morning we just ordered whatever we wanted for breakfast. Good food and good beer, and a quaint bed and breakfast in an OLD house.

Agree
If I ever become quasi-homeless I'm just going to make sure I look reasonable and eat like king every morning. If it's fresh, Holiday Inn Express is unbeatable in that $100 hotel range. Biscuits and Gravy, Thin-sliced bacon. Oh boy. Some of them are terrible. Once I was on a work trip with a group who stayed at $60 range hotels and I went to the free breakfast and when I threw a bagel in the toaster a mouse jumped out of the toaster. Not kidding. Told the girl at the front desk and she said. "oh. sorry."

For those of us NOT looking for 5 star brunch accomodations at a swanky resturant, the free hotel breakfast works well, is free, and convenient....pick and choose what you eat from the buffet.....or not !

So my wife is the one that books hotels for our vacations, and we always try to get free breakfast...I like the ones where they cook-to-order omelettes or eggs. Hyatt chains I think.
The rest they just toss out stuff from a kitchen hidden somewhere, with the usual fare - bacon, scrambled eggs, some form of oatmeal, fruits, dairy and yogurt, kids' cereals, juice from a machine, Marriott chains I believe is our next choice. Sometimes Hilton, depends on proximity. |

We have had some great "free" breakfasts and some crappy ones. At one hotel in CT the breakfast was in the bar area. All cold. Cereal, and dried up bagels, and frosted danishes. The coffee was good. That is when we go to the room, and have a granola bar or two, then hit the road.
One place in Erie, PA had "free breakfast" and it was a coupon to the McDonald's that was basically in the parking lot of the hotel, so no driving necessary. The bed and breakfasts of course have the best breakfasts.
