My Finished John Deere 430 Diesel Project

Here's my just finished 430 restoration. Has just over 1100 hrs on it, 1 original owner that I bought locally about 2 years ago. The drive train had fluids / filters serviced regularly and only required maintenance and adjustments, but everything else there but not so good shape.

The mower deck was the worst. I'm working on that now, disassembled and then sandblasted. Fabricated repair panels, welded in with strengthening ribs will be ready for the powdercoating in a few days.

I love it! After all the hard work, waiting to source NOS parts it looks and operates like new. Its really almost too big for the lawn that I have.....but that's point isn't it?

Everything but the hood is powdercoated as that's how they were manufactured. The rear tires are weighted with RV antifreeze.

great job on the resto. similar machine to 420 I used to own (but yours has the better engine).

little tip: be careful with the key when you get on and off that machine. its in a very vulnerable spot and easy to hit with your foot when mounting/dismounting. Very easy to break key off in the switch, which I did (and henceforth used a screwdriver).

Nice restoration on the 430 they are a beast. I just finished a minor restoration on a 332 I picked up a few months ago . It is the smaller cousin of the 430 . I also have a 330 I really love these small Yanmar diesels .

Serious envy........Diesel and power steering as I recall?

Always dreamed of one when I plowed snow with a 316 and later a 318....

That's a beautiful tractor !! My old, gray market B1200 doesn't compare, but it's a tough little machine. It must have a million hours on it. I also have a Kubota L frame for heavier jobs.

Yeah, a turbo might bump it from 16 to 18 hp.

That they were 20hp from the factory seems note worthy and it's already been done.
