Apple FINALLY killing iTunes!
Itunes won't be part of the next OS upgrade. Your music library will be managed through Apple Music. Backups and syncing will have a separate app. It remains to be seen if it is any less archaic than iTunes.
I hear fireworks going off and dancing in the streets. ![]() ![]()

I believe iTunes is the worst piece of software ever. Worse than any crap from Microsoft ever, or even low end freeware and opensource. I will miss it like a toothache.
The music side should be easy. The data backup of the phone to my computer has to be better. I just wonder if it is even possible to make the photo backup any worse, I can't imagine how it can be worse unless they force all photos to on on iCloud or some stupid cloud based thing, and charge for more than 5 gig of data. It sure would be nice if they started from scratch and built something worthwhile.

Reports of iTunes death are greatly exaggerated...
they are going to chop it into 3 pieces and spread it around - I bet the code base is not updated much either |

I'm not into Apple products at all, but for the life of me can't figure out how such a software centric company with brilliant engineers and design folks couldn't have come up with a better solution.

itunes from 10 years ago was clean, simple, and effective for managing your music. Then the software geeks loaded it down with a whole bunch of sheit actual users never wanted and now it is a bloated mess and practically useless.

I love my Mac, iPhone, and iPad. How the Eff does my music get "lost" between updates and devices? Especially the music that wasn't bought from iTunes? AssHats

iTunes has given much life to Amazon Music. I have to think that the new aTunes or whatever will still suck double donkey balls.

iTunes was Apple's worst idea since Newton, and unfortunately lasted too long. Yes, reports are iTunes will continue for PCs.

Yes. Mac OSX is doing what's been said, going from iTunes to multiple separate apps, but in the Windows world, nothing is changing.

I would love an useful program that would let me organize my collection of MP3 music, and photos from the last 10 years. It pretty much impossible to do with iTunes. I have 16.7 gig of photos on my phone (ten years worth), and just over 2,000 songs, 4 gig of data backup from my computer, 3 gig of movies that are there if I get stuck at the airport again. I still have 66 gig free. It is a challenge to find some photos from several years ago. A way to organize them would be great, but iTunes sucks donkey balls for organizing anything. It is all backed up to my computer, so if I upgrade to a new phone it just all comes back. I just wish I had more control of my photos and music I own, and my data.

mp3 is the Yugo of audio
... or like eating tofu instead of meat but you can set up iTunes to organize things very well - go into Preferences and un check 'those boxes I can't recall' so you can do things by albums, etc. |

It is TERRIBLE, but that is what you have to do if you want to use an Apple device, not be limited to the number of devices you want to add to devices, and not have your music be lost if the device is broken, lost, damaged, or stolen. All of this is because iTunes sucks. I have one playlist that is now 297 songs, almost 20 hours. People ask me for copies of it, but I have no idea how to do that. |
