Anybody looking for a big block engine to swap into his 914 or 911?

Here's your chance.

WW2 Rolls Royce Meteor engine, as used in Cromwell and Challenger tanks.
Basically a Merlin V12 in different setup/tune.

Friend of mine has this up for sale , i don't know where he got it from.
But it's been rebuilt in 85 and stored in a dry warehouse since.

Recommend upgrading yer springs and shocks cause it's a wee bit heavy

They were unsupercharged hence "only" 600 BHP..They were governed in the Cromwell, but governor removed the Cromwell would do well over 50 mph 4 gallons per mile was the usual fuel consumption .( My dad was a Cromwell tank commander).

For just a little bit more, you can get a Merlin .
These things are just about as cool as it gets in the world of engines .

Jay Leno has a couple of "tank cars" that are big enough to have a tank engine in them.

It must be fun to have those cars to play with.

Fifty years ago my neighbor had one in his garage, and he actually started it once. I think the fuel line 1" pipe.

Very cool to a ten year old kid. Or a sixty hear old kid.

There was a guy in Yorkshire(UK) who put one of these engines with its 1550 lbs/ ft of torque into a Rover SD1 sedan.Used an old bus gearbox because of its stepup gearing to get some top speed because the Meteor engine has a 3000 rpm rev limit.
You can find it on YouTube ( it's in a really old Top Gear episode)
