Now that's pretty funny...
Ive had a Jonsered chainsaw for years... probably over 20... Had people at my place asking me why I don't have Homelite Looks like they are cast at the same plant.....

Wow, that's interesting.
I buy Husqvarna because they are made by naked Swedish girls. . |

My German Stihl Chainsaw girls > Your Husky girls.
Stihls rev higher longer with a sing. Huskys do have more torque I'll give that to you.........but the butt on the fat girl at the dance also has more low end grunt too. give me the Porsche revving saw. Nothing revs like a Stihl, fresh chain and a well tuned carb, hot knife through butter. Owned 7 Stihls and I don't pick another color than Orange, including my Kubota tractor. Funny story, a ex-bro-in-law got a brand new saw he was so proud of ..............a ~16" craftsman........it vibrated so much I had to put it down after 30 seconds.........it suckkkeeddd.

I've had both but never at the same time. Very interesting......wonder what the price difference is.

I have never owned a Husky saw. Just too hard to find parts unless I want to go special order. I have 3 Echoes and last year I finally bought a Stihl. To be 100% honest, the Echo model has more power than the Stihl. But Stihl has a lot of really cool engineering that I like.

In reality they are all probably made at one or two places on the planet then rebadged. Like GM cars!

My Husky is over 25 years old and the Stihl's of that era were way wider and louder too. I took a log building school and got to use all 3, 1 guy had a Jonsered, it was a better saw to hold than the Stihl but still not close to the Husky. It was the saw to have back then, Stihl has come along way since then and have bumped Husky to a distant second in popularity in this neck of the woods.

It is a poorly kept secret that both brands are made by the same company, (poorly kept at least among loggers and serious wood cutters.) Like Valby chippers and Farmi skidding winches are manufactured by the same company.

My 14 year old stihl quit on me couple of years ago, and I had to take in my smaller stihl for repairs 3 times (it's 4 years old). Bought a Husky to replace the older stihl, so far so good.

I can totally believe that. If you look at Echo and Stihl weed trimmers and blowers, they are so similar they've got to have some shared components.

For me they were just a couple of saws that came through my pawn shop. I certainly don't profess to be very competent with one, but my house is well surrounded by trees and one has to fire up a saw every few months to maintain the place.
Somehow it ended up that the Husky and Jred were at the house at the same time. I was deciding which one to keep (eenie meanie minee moe) and as both had the same length bar I was going to swap for the best chain. That was when I took the photo. So that's when I discovered that rather than Ford vs Chevy it was Chevy vs GMC. I'll check into the Echo/Stihl connection that Ben brought up; I've kept an Echo climbing saw that's been my first choice when something needs cutting. I'm getting storage payments on a couple of Stihl climbers I can compare. But really, Husky, Jred, Stihl, Echo; they are all quality saws. Three pulls and they're running. I'm a bit suprised by Rusty's comment that Stihls are higher reving than Huskys, that's the opposite of what I hear at the shop. But from what I can see it's a Ford-Chevy-Dodge kind of thing. But this is Arkansas; here they're not born with a silver spoon in their mouth but with a chain saw in their hand (not that we don't have some on the dole of course). Jim

Jim- Neat comparison pic. Sure look very similar.
I've always been pleased with both Husqvarna and Stihl, but at the end of the day, I would easily rank Stihl as the favorite. The only reason why is its far better for vibe isolation. Stihl seems to have perfected it. The consumer and pro saws by Stihl have that 'edge'. And about those Husqvarna gals.... they handed out posters in the 1970's with topless cuties posed with a chainsaw. I had a few of them hanging in my garage. Nice art.

Here at the home town of Weyerhaeuser, The only saws you will find in a loggers hand are Stihl or Husky. Weyerhaeuser switched from Stihl to Husky many years ago.
