Great option for getting into or back into LPs and just general reasonably priced turntables. They have really great customer service as well.

Know several people with them and they work well, been around for a while now.

I have heard they are fine however they are USA assembled not manufactured.

VPI however is a full-on US designed and built product. If country of origin AND assembly is important to your purchase decision.

I think if he looking at a $200 turntable he isn’t looking at VPI right?

200$ is what I paid for my VPI............record clamp

If you look at their website and around it seems like u turn does a fair amount of actual manufacturing in their facility and USA vendors. Can pair with Schitt audio for a mostly usa sourced budget friendly system.

Oracle have always been high on my list in both performance and looks. They have hands down (to me at least) the best-looking higher end turntables.

I am very happy with my Schiit gear, Modi Multibit DAC Aegir amplifier, and Saga + preamp. I did however, just replace my Mani phono stage with a Darlington Labs MP-7 unit. My ears are telling me its a significant upgrade. I am a happier turntable camper.

"some people have told me that the Technics SL-1800 mid 1970s is a rare, and great tune table

And why is rare?

People have told me that the Technics SL-1800 made in mid 1970s is a rare, and great tune table.

Is this true ?
And why is rare?

What does rare mean? If its avaialbe on reverb or ebay I dont think its that rare. Looks like nice ones can be had for a couple hundred bucks.

SL-1800 isnt particularly rare or valuable. I think it is a manual/basic version of sl1200, literally one of the most common turntables made (but a great one)

Technics from that vintage are very good turntables (as are the current technics revival tables). It used to be no brainer advice to tell people interested in turntables to pick up the nicest sl1200 they could find for $200 on craigslist, but now that everyone is back into turntables they are 2-3 times as much.

Rare is not a positive trait in a TT BTW, makes it hard to find support and parts.

On my 3rd VPI table. Just added a Manley Chinook phono preamp that was an impressive upgrade. So many variables with turntables that it’s hard to suggest that one sounds better than another. Of course that’s true with audio gear in general (damping, room acoustics, electronics, cabling, speakers and their placement and the list goes on).

Bottom line, it’s a fun hobby but don’t buy equipment because Fremer gave it a good review. He gives everything a good review…as do most reviewers.

Still looking ..
Supposedly a very rare unit produced in the mid 70s
That is what the "salesman" told me when he sold it to me.
In the processes of life it has disappeared..and I am trying to replace it
I look at them all for sale and cant find the exact match.
So maybe, there is a weird one out there somewhere/??

Also- it was very Heavy for its size.

Yup, its a system with many variables that individually influence what reaches your ears.

The primary metric should be if what you hear makes you happy. I changed my phono stage because it was an entry level (and highly rated) unit for one that cost more and also highly rated. I am happier now because I hear more detail in the music.

I am in Prague on a short vacation and happened by a shop, looked more like a gallery, for these turntables www.440audio.eu. Unbelievably beautiful designs fully custom for material, tone arm, cartridge.
