Cool collection. I had pretty liberal use of my dads old pickup, the legendary Mitsu might max. Not sure how I fit but it hauled mulch and mowers just about every weekend. I think he was pretty relieved when I finally got my own truck.

I got my 46 cj2a when i was 15 for 200 bucks and fixed it up so i drove that for about a year then my friend gave me a free 240sx i had to rebuild the engine and drove that for 3 or 4 years after until i sold it and got my 911. I still have the cj. Sometimes wish i kept the 240 it was more fun to drive than the 911 i flogged that car

Brown Schwinn Varsity 10 speed with shifters on the head tube ridden through HS, college, grad school and first 5 years of work. Probably had 20K miles on it.

For HS graduation received a 73 Capri V6. Drove the wheels off it, needing new valves and rebuilt 4 speed transmission. The interior was falling a part Talk about planned obsolescence

1965 Chevy C20. Dad had a renter that ran a peach orchard. He was going back home and told Dad about the truck. We went i to look at it, removed a bunch of peach branches. Had a 283 with no intake or carb, water in the gas tank, and when we opened the hood rat ran out of the heater box. Dad told the guy he buy for $35. Looked at me and said, when I was 13, here it is you fix it. Pulled it home with a borrowed tractor. And that was my my first truck. Many jobs to pay for parts, many mistakes but finally got it running. Had a 3 speed auto and a 4;11 rear end. Wouldn't go over 50 but I could pull out 2 trucks at one time from the mud holes, many times! The things I did in that truck, its a wonder I'm still alive. Learned how to power slide, oh I mean drift, on slick streets and gravel roads. Sold it a few years later for $600 and then my next POS was a Ford Granade...

I remember when I broke the frame on my Stingray. Had a paper route at the time, so I needed some wheels. Dad was good enough to let me use his bike, which was like a cross between ten speed and a cruiser bike, sort of bike you see in old movies, Schwinn Traveler. It had much larger diameter wheels, like a ten speed, but a wide seat, with a coil spring suspension system on it, fenders that were nice on the rare occasions that it rained, basket that looked stupid, but was very handy. Most importantly, it had the magic of gearing. There is only so fast you are going to be able to spin a set of pedals, that was the first bike I ever rode that was not a one speed. It was a revelation. I could keep up with traffic around town on that thing, if I was not toting anything. It was heavy, so it took a minute, but it would really move, once you got going. Oh yeah, the brakes were horrible. In retrospect, it is a little surprising I was not killed riding it. I suspect new brake pads would have helped, the ones on it were as old as I was at the time. I took them off and sanded them down a little, thinking that freshening up the surface would make them work better. It did not. It was collecting dust in the garage for a long time before I pulled it out of hibernation for paper route duty. Tires were probably pretty old too. Bought myself a Centurion 10 speed with the dough I earned throwing newspapers. I could flat run away from anyone on that thing.

Dad never rode that Traveler, I don't think even once. He had an XKE, what would he want with a bicycle.

A beat old Bug that I beat even more, it was always covered in mud.
I used to go out with the 4X4'S, big snow tires on the back, I could go everywhere they could go and some places they couldn't.

I think my senior year was when I bought my 924S. I had worked a job for a year to save up for it, and I still think I borrowed money to buy it for $3000 (this was 2004 or 2005, was probably close to the bottom of the market. I see they are worth more these days!). It once belonged to a retired NBA player that I can't remember the name of. Man it was a phenomenal car. I miss it. It was eventually was sold to a friend of a friend who went on to drive it across the country and daily it for years, presumably without ever changing the timing belt which had 50k+ miles and 10 years on it by then.
