Flag pole lightning questions
My wife and I would like to install an aluminum 20 ' tall flag pole in our front yard . For optimal viewing we would like to install about 25 - 30 foot from the house. We have a metal roof on the house so not too concerned about the flag pole being added .
But my questions are more about " if " the pole is hit by lightning how will it affect my water well pump ? The well is about 125 ' away and the pipe from it to the house is PVC. The house like most has an external ground rod . I could install the flag pole farther from the house if need be. So is this a potential issue or don't worry about it ? |

I wouldn't worry about the well. You could drive a round rod next to the flag pole and ground it with a ground cable.

That was my thought also . I'm going to install it and not worry about it .
