Man this is no fun. IDK how the deep south deals with this. I'm trying to build a small ground level deck for my new bike and I can't spend more than 1/2 hour outside.

I have been working outside for the last 10 days cleaning up from concrete pour and building erosion control with stones . Every day has been 90-95 with feels like temps of 105-110 .
I go for an hour or two then come inside to cool off . Hydrate and then go back at it . Sweating like a pig but you gotta get stuff done . If you plan accordingly and be smart you can power through. |

Conditions are so bad currently that I have started working a large chunk of my shift after 9:00PM, which comes with consequences of very erratic sleeping schedule. I'm close to simply shifting to an outright deep nights schedule, except that means I would work entirely alone and would have to function on zero sleep on days that I have to be there during regular business hours, such as to meet with FAA inspectors. I've lived in this area since 1989, and there is simply no getting used to the burnass climate here, at least for me. Only reason I stay in TX is because I have immediate family here, along with inertia, which has me rooted. One positive thing I can say about living here is that it has made me an expert on home and mobile air conditioning. :D BTW, I posted earlier in this thread how it was still 90 at close to 1:00AM, well two days in a row last week it was still 90 after 2:00AM and more of the same is predicted for as far out as weather predictions go. |
"Warm out today."
"Warm yesterday." "Even warmer today." -Stewie Griffin.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1689541254.jpg In other news, the AC on my car finally lost all pressure last week. Damned if I'm gonna go recharge it right now though- too hot out. Vicious cycle. |
Sweet weepin' Mary this is nuts. I can't get anything done outside. It's only mid 80's but the humidity is crushing me. I've got things to do so this is very frustrating. Forget riding my bicycle.

109 here today and my downstairs unit seems to have pooped the proverbial bed.
Hopefully simple fix. |
89 but "feels like" 95 here in West Point, Georgia, but the dang Canadian smoke is here now making things, well, smokey.

It has been mid-80s here in VA. Pretty comfortable outside. Been getting some yard work done and breaking out the '89 Targa and putting in some top-free miles during the day. After living in Vegas...the heat seems tolerable almost anywhere. It is still a bit hot in the garage to do much wrenching though.

90 in the shade, 78 inside at this time. A daytime temp in the low/mid 90s & night temp in the mid 60s works out pretty well. We open the windows at night to let the house cool down to 67/68 & close them in the mornings Inside temps stay moderate throught the day, & the AC might kick on for a short peiod of time late day/early evening. I suppose we can't ask for better with this extended heat.

Actually went into the office today. Left work it was 92 in San Jose. 30 minutes later dropping into Soquel/Aptos,,,, 72.
Pretty typical summertime delta. |

Yesterday I picked up 4000 lbs of rip rap stones in my dually . This morning I will start the task of unloading the stones one by one by hand . I have no doubts I will lose some weight over the next few days . Hydrate ...hydrate .....hydrate . And take breaks as needed . That's the plan .

The weather sucks all over the country. I feel sorry for you guys suffering in the heat, and the folks in New York and New England with floods and smoke.
Here in western Ohio the weather has sucked in it's own way. The temp has bounced up and down like a yoyo and we have almost daily severe thunder storms, fog, and smoke. Our vegetable garden is a disaster. Tomatoes are sensitive to temperature, and the weather is playing hell with them. Our "4th of July" tomatoes usually begin to produce by the last week of June. So far this year the few tomatoes on them are golf ball sized and not growing. It will be August before we get tomatoes, if we ever get any at all. |
Water temp in my pool yesterday at 4 was 92F. Its like getting into a hot baath tub..

Worth every square inch of garage space needed to store in case of times like this. Wheeled it into the bedroom last night so at least we were able to sleep. Rest of house was already 83 at 6:30 this morning. People have backup generators and i figure in room AC units are a similar necessity in TX. |
