We are on the NC/SC line and it definitely gets hot here in the summer, always has, nothing new. And humid periods but not always. We are about 100 miles from the Appalachian Mountains and this protects this area from crazy weather most times. It shoots up along the mountains into Tennessee and West Virginia. This year is pretty much normal lows in the low 70's and highs from the high 80's to low 90's. We have had more than normal rain, it usually gets pretty dry around here in July and August, but we have been getting afternoon thundershowers maybe every 4 or 5 days. I think the peak daytime temp was no more that 94 here, maybe a bit more into South Carolina. In the mountains maybe 80 on a hot day down here at 90. We have lived here a long time and the winters are still moderate (meaning 30's - 50's can get briefly a lot colder) and the summers hot and humid. I hope it stays this way. Oh, and Carolina Blue skies many days!

The cool weather from the Monsoons elsewhere have cooled Socal. Very nice last couple of days.

Steve: Cali? We're not Calexico or Calipso. But that is how we tell people who are not from here. Even if they live here.

Cali

Still hot and humid here. But we're on the home stretch......

Record hot summer in Collier county last winter and this summer. WTF I’ve only lived here 18 months and other than a cat 4 hurricane, 300 acre fire in the jungle 1 mile from here and I still don’t miss north Texas

Yesterday the high was supposed to have been 103º. I think it may have hit 100º at my place. Because of the storm in the Gulf, the temp was only supposed to be 97º today. When I got home it was 86º because we'd received 0.07" of rain. It's up to 94º now, but all of that is a very, very welcome change. Tomorrow is supposed to be 101º and the day after, Thu, 106º.

When you're not used to manual labor, working in 100º+ heat SUCKS!

I worked yesterday for 6 hours inside a RV . It was 98 degrees outside had to be 110 inside . I had a fan and drank a lot of water . Powered through but staying inside today . One day on then one day off has worked for me . Being retired I have that option . Thermometer right now says 102 .

Yikes, yeah. Glad you've found your groove. I've been better adjusted in the past, but have spent very little time working outside this summer, so going outside and working is kicking my rear.

60 degrees is my number for morning bike rides with shorts and t-shirt. That number is getting later and later every day now. Tomorrow it doesn't get to 60 until 10 am.

Summer is slowly going away here.

Chocaholic 08-27-2023 03:15 AM

Not here. 100+ yesterday and 103 today. Had a short rain shower that turned the Mobile Bay Area into a freakin’ sauna.

The "Dog star" Sirius begins to rise during late summer in the northern hemisphere. It's part of the constellation Canis Major.
