Please refrain from telling me the last great US stones tour was 1972. I’ve seen enough shows to know what utter nonsense that is 😎

Went to the Tuesday show in Chicago, June 25th - the warm up act was terrible. The Stones went on at 9pm and played for 2 hours. Great show! Older crowd: I saw people with oxygen masks/tanks, walkers and canes. Great evening.

Gary Clark Jr was special guest for the Boston show - that would have been cool to see. enjoy

The 1969 tour could aptly be named THE MONEY SHOT TOUR cause this was the tour where the Stones delivered and earned the sobriquet '"The Greatest Rock and Roll Band." It was on this tour that they played with a ferocious on the edge intensity that they never matched again as at the culmination of this tour the Stones outlaw persona hit the asphalt at Altamont where they met some real outlaws in the Hells Angels. In 1972 the Stones substituted energy for intensity that they couldn't keep up and by 1975 they were bloated and sloppy Jet Setters riding high on the past acclaim.

So here it is the opening concert on the 1969 tour where you hear Jagger cajole and growl like Lucifer himself while Richards riffs sound like a howl from Hell and Taylor's soaring counterpoint sounds like a heavenly choir. But what made this tour extraordinary were the introduction of the songs Jumping Jack Flash, Stray Cat Blues, Sympathy For The Devil, Gimme Shelter and Midnight Rambler that crossed and recrossed the line between sanity and madness*. For much of this materiel's genesis came from the swirling emotional chaos wrought by the disintegration of Brian Jones, the Stones drug busts and the uncertainty about the bands future. So when you hear these songs please remember his name for after this tour the "little twerp"** didn't think he was Lucifer anymore.

* Even Jagger said that whenever they played Sympathy the audience would get "weird"

** Ry Cooder once said, "That the little twerp sic Jagger thinks that he is Lucifer."

Saw them in Cleveland Stadium in 1975. 82,000 peeps. Internet says it was the largest crowd in history for an outdoor structure.

Saw them again in 1981-ish at the Richfield Coliseum. Much tighter and acoustics better.

Don't need to see them again. Gettin' old.

And straight from the Nursing home it is the Rolling Stones...playing all their hit songs from 50 years ago...

Have to agree with Tabs on the '69 tour. Although too young at that time to see them live, they released a live album from that tour that I wore out in my adolescence.

For god sakes man i had 1969 written but thought what are the chances tabs will school me about the 69 tour. I just wanna know how this tour has been since Mick had surgery

Look man be honest, when was the last time you saw them? Was it 1969?

Because I’ve seen them recently and they kicked ass and I can 100% guarantee you I go to more concerts than you or most people and the stones can out play just about anyone regardless of their age

If you gotta put them down because they are still doing what they love even though they are 70 plus years old, I guess your not really a fan are you?

This ain’t no modern day beach boy concert we’re discussing

A bunch of the 69 tour concert dates (along with just about every tour they did) are on U Tube.

The Late or Second Show at Oakland, the LA Forum, the Baltimore and Madison Square Gardens shows are really memorable from the 69 tour.

The 75 shows are also a kick because of the sloppy jamming they did on that Tour..The LA Forum and Madison Square Garden shows are the ones that are hot..

The Stones have their shows choreographed down to the second...they might as well put a CD of their show on with cardboard cutouts standing in for themselves.

At the 06 show here in LV a older guy and his buds were going to every show on the tour..When asked about why he was looking at his watch his comment was that they cut a verse out of Sympathy because they were 17 seconds behind in the show..

It’s called get yer ya yas out. A decent album with abysmal sound quality. I dig it and listen often but it’s no holy grail as far as stones performances go

Well they do play their Oldies But Mouldy Goodies hits like The Beach Geezers.

Well I would hope so given that audio has come a long way since the Stone Age..

Look if I wanted to see a loose improvised band play that didn’t look at their watch i would go see Dead & Co, oh wait I did that last week

The Stones have it down, technically proficient giving a great show..great entertainers...like Sinatra or the The Beach Boys in later years...seeing them is like going to see an INSTITUTION...

You might say the thrill is gone except for the thrill of the spectacle.

I say go see the ol' geezers while ya stiil can....

.....'cause Keef's gonna still be touring when you can't....mebbe with Bob....Dead & Co :)!

If they were sloppy and sucked and obviously diminished by age I would agree. However, they still rock and sound fantastic

Have a look at the 50th Ann Hyde Park shown on Blu-ray or rent from amazon. Crank it up and then let’s talk. Try not to obsess about the wrinkles and the osteoarthritis and all that.

Oh I know, you were there in 69 so why bother watching them 50 years later

YA YA's, Band Of Gypsys and The Who Live At Leeds are the best RR live albums ever...maybe AB's Fillmore East, Cream's Wheels Of Fire...pure energy...

You mistake sound quality and corrography for the content taking you to the edge..the spectacle is the show and not the content which is being rehashed...again

When the Stones played Sympathy in 69 for the first time on tour as Jagger said, "The audience got weird"...it took them to the edge..the vibe it created moved them.. Today they cut 17 seconds because they are behind in the show..

I saw them in Ames, IA back in college and it was fun.

Saw Bob last Friday in Boulder and thoroughly enjoyed myself even in the pouring rain and rain delay.
