Sometimes I really wonder about people.
On father’s day my father-in-law and his wife were on their way to my place on his Harley and hit a deer. (That could be the story in itself)
My wife got a call from him, but couldn’t understand what he was trying to say. We put two and two together and start back tracking the route they would have taken to our house. We arrive at the scene just as ambulance number one was leaving with his wife, and my FIL was getting loaded in to ambulance number two. My ‘brother-in-law’ (My wife’s Sister’s Husband) was also coming by and was able to ride the Harley to BILs place while my wife went in the ambulance and I followed. A few days in the hospital with 3 and 4 broken ribs respectively and now they are home trying to heal. Recovery is not easy when you’re in your mid 60’s. Here is where things get interesting… In the end it’s just a ‘thing’ and it isn’t really worth a family feud over. On the other hand, do you really want to call someone who would do something like this ‘family’? My rant for today. |
I read yer rant....made me IL :)
People suck....marryin' increases the odds of exposure :( Good rant btw.... |
Last time I saw my sister and BIL was in court..... and every dollar we spent to get rid of them was well worth it.
Yup, sometimes family sucks. I hope your FIL and his wife healed well. That's all that really matters. |
BIL Sounds like a real dick.
To the extent a song can keep me from knocking someone’s teeth out I listen to this https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DQTCS6aWRSc What’s been done in the dark will be brought to the light |
The important thing is that the Folks are OK. It was a good sign that maybe it is time to stop riding, that's for the old man to decide, but maybe it isn't so bad it is off his hands now.
If you want a Harley, go get a Harley. They aren't very hard to come by. God bless the child that's got his own. Don't always assume that someone is trying to do you dirty because they want something. Keep your eyes open in the future though. People who want stuff usually get it. |
its a motorcycle.
get over it. move on, buy 3 more. |
IMHO it wasn't the BIL's place to make that decision about someone else's property.
Yes, he is a dick. |
Welcome to the club 71T. Family sucks whether by blood or marriage.
|
Maybe you all need to take a trip to Disney Land together?

Good one Paul

BiL is a Douchenozzle with a capital D. He knew that he was taking advantage of the situation. Fuch him, but unfortunately I also understand the FiL position of feeling a little bad.

Will give you a good deal on mine.
Your family is getting torn apart over a crashed and repaired used motorcycle. Let it go...your dad doesn’t deserve the grief either. Suggest your wife let him off the hook to make this easier. Plenty around... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1562725041.jpg |
Been to the dog park enough times to noticed that they don't care a wit about what they have at the moment.
They always want what the other dog has.. So if it's -20deg or 120deg outside, you are still gonna be the same person. |
Thanks for the chuckle and the perspective.
We wouldn't be looking for a Harley except for this one, and we didn't want this one until my father in law was done riding. This is much earlier than we ever thought we'd be having this conversation. As I said before, in the end it's just a thing. But it's a thing that has been a part of my wife's life since '96. Even if indirectly. |

Yep, that's every family. The uncle that taught me to ride passed away and the next day his two sons from a previous marriage showed up and took all three of his bikes from my aunt's garage.

How did BIL get decision making power with FIL's insurance company?
BIL is a piece of work. |
