What is the one item in your daily routine you look forward to the most?
For me it's coming home at 1PM to take a break and watch Gunsmoke.
I also eat lunch, let the girls out, change over tools and supplies in my truck as needed for the second shift, answer email, check talk forums, and generally just let my head and body temperature go back down to where it belongs. Nice to also just give my brain a diversion from the rat race. There are days it just doesn't happen because of practicality reasons. Over the years the programming has changed. Rotations have included The Rockford Files and The Big Valley. The black and white Gunsmoke episodes are fantastic! There's never been anyone like Matt Dillon.....and there never will be! |
Between 9 and 9:30 I sit in my recliner and give the one year old his last bottle and put him to bed.
It's an amazingly peaceful time. |
My morning bike ride. When school is in session I wait till after the school zones have cleared but in the summer I go right around sunrise. That is the "coolest" part of the day around here. I just zone out as much as possible and enjoy the new day. I ride a lot of relatively rural roads with little traffic and opportunities to see wildlife, although some of it is road kill unfortunately. Hawks, herons, crested caracara, deer, bob cats, feral hogs and even an occasional alligator.

Salmon fishing and happy hour!

First thing as I wake - my collie is waiting impatiently to jump up, put his front paws on me, nuzzle and lick my face

3 days a week, I work at the rental houses after work at the shop. I am usually dead tired , and pretty weary at 10 pm, when I am locking the door of the house to leave .
For some odd reason, I really like that 30 minute drive home from the city . Most of the world is quiet, there is little traffic, and I just really enjoy that quiet time mixed with some satisfaction of putting in a good hard days work . It is always a time for me to reflect on what I have accomplished, and what I have ahead of me for the next day . |
Happy hour. By 4 PM the naproxen has worn off and a glass of ice cold liquid painkiller feels pretty darn good.

Waking up.

WSJ crossword (and the paper as well).

Probably making coffee first thing in the morning.
The coffees, lattes usually, have to be perfect. If there is one thing in life to get right it's the coffees. |
A good healthy....

My last cup of coffee for the day, which means I go home soon.

My ride to and from work.

My wife and I both get up at 0600.
She goes down stairs and takes care of the dogs and makes us both coffee. We sit in bed, drink my now one and only cup of Joe a day, and talk about the day ahead....the Golden 1/2 hour. This is every day when we are home together. |
Breakfast...it's almost always the biggest meal of the day for me....eggs, hash browns, bacon/sausage are my go-to foods.
Keeps me going for the rest of the day. If I eat a large meal in the afternoon/evening, I feel bloated for the next day. I've never had a problem with weight gain and I think the big breakfast is a factor. |

Sitting on the porch with a stiff drink and watching the sun set is a close second, but that’s not exactly a “daily” routine....cpl days a week maybe :)

Thanks for allowing me to peer through your lens a bit folks.
Enlightening as well as refreshing. |

If I've been working that day, a cold beer when I arrive home. Usually lasts about 5 swallows.

As soon as I step out of bed our male dachshund comes running around the bed from the side where the dog bed is. He has his tail wagging like I am the best sight he has ever seen. He wants to mouth my thumb as his greeting.
As soon as I am showered and dressed and heading to the kitchen he is acting like Lassie leading me to Timmy trapped in the well, but it is the back door. He has a doggie door, but there is something special about getting to go out the kitchen door into the back yard. I get the coffee going, and then feed the dogs. His favorite time for sure. |
My 2 little girls always scream daddy and run to hug me when I get home.

waking up and realising I'm alive, no better time of the day for me

Making dinner. I dream about it all day. I plan and replan, go shopping at 5 and then make my day long fantasy. Tonight, fresh saffron fettuccine with lobster, asparagus and peppadew peppers with a white balsamic butter sour cream sauce and fresh lemon spritzed over everything. Fantastic with a white Bordeaux with hints of citrus.

As soon as I get up in the morning I make myself a cup of Tetley tea.
In the afternoon I have 1 to about 1.5 glasses of red wine. The latter can be Californian, Spanish or Australian wine. Life is good.:) |
The morning shower ;)

The one on the left seems to have the ability to know what time I have my alarm set to wake up, and he breathes on me about 10 minutes before it goes off, until I wake up.
Best time of the day is 0500, heading out on a walk. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1562898372.jpg |
I miss my dog... ;(

Hoping in bed and reading for awhile after a long day.
