So your son is already not a Diffey fan? Smart lad.

Should be a good race on a tricky track.

Some drama to keep the NASCAR fans interested:
https://www.foxnews.com/sports/indycar-drivers-get-testy-with-post-race-scrap-in-toronto
Quote:
After the race, Japanese driver Sato angrily approached Bourdais after being passed during the final lap in the morning practice run. Sato felt there was no reason Bourdais should have passed him because an earlier crash had given each driver a free lap, according to IndyStar

Fuming, Sato entered the pit box of the Bourdais after the race, approached the left side of his vehicle and grabbed the collar of his racing suit, which almost pulled him off his vehicle. The French driver responded by getting a hold of Sato and eventually throwing a punch before the two were quickly separated. Sato later talked about Bourdais' actions during the race that led to the two drivers going at it.
and they start 8th and 10th (one in front of the other)

Lively race so far. Pagenaud is the pace setter.

Here is a funny thing about the Indy race.
Before it started this morning, I flipped over to the E-Race to check out how the Capt's Jag is doing. My timing was perfect, got there just in time to see the Jag pull off line and roll to a stop on track with electrical issues. Don't think the Capt is involved with that part of the car.

Anyway I watched on to the end of the race including a last lap crash involving five cars.
The speed seems to have come up in the E cars, but the sound is still lacking, detracting from the enjoyment for me.

Well then on to the Indy race. And wouldn't you know it. The sound mix for the broadcast is so off that the loud sound of the cars all but masks the commentary to the point that I couldnt make out most of what they were saying till mid way thru the race, when they corrected the mix.

Cheers Richard

Old age and too much high volume sound tends to make it harder to hear distinct part of the broadcast (or in a live setting). As me how I know.

I am not one who is prone to conspiracy theories but that last lap crash of Power sure did help guarantee that Pagenaud would have the fuel to finish in first. Jus sayin...

The Jag stopping could well have been my doing, I'll find out this week.

Don't think I've ever caused a DNF but that fear is always there and never ignored while I'm designing

Not worked for the team since June last year but the parts won't have changed since then

Mitch was 3rd in the drivers championship, 2nd was there for the taking on the last race of the season but sadly he is now classed 5th. Motorsport can be a cruel mistress

Whoa Captain , I sure wasn't intending to put you on the spot or spoil your weekend, my friend.

I had thought you were in body design and aero stuff.

Are you able to fill us in more about the areas of development you are involved in?

Have you worked on the KERS systems developments?

Cheers Richard

That thought crossed my mind too, but, on replay, it was pretty obviously a lockup caused by late braking. Not my first choice for staging an accident.

Indy continues to provide great racing and interesting politics. I wonder who Rossi will sign with? Chip might dig deep to put him on the team with Dixon--arguably the two best drivers out there. I'd love to see that happen, but I'd also like to see him stay with Andretti to spread the talent around. Hard to see the Captain (Penske, not Ahab) kicking any of his drivers off the team--Pagenaud's having a career year, Power won Indy in 2018, and Newgarden is leading in points.

Sorry but that is just silly. Power is more than capable of such an error without the incentive of helping a teammate.

Hope that is not the case Captain.

I still have to watch Race 2 from New York.
