Does this have anything to do with the future of China & Taiwan?

That's exactly why they're resurfacing the runways. Anderson AFB on Guam is a prime target. Marine Corp engineers have also resurfaced the old runway on Peleliu.

I visited Tinian in the summer of 1967.
I believe the only active airfield at that time was an old Naval air station.

My ride out arriving.

After taking off, we flew right over the bomb loading pits located in the legs of the "Y" shaped tarmac.

^ great pics

It'd be cool to see Tinian.

We made our first visit to Wendover, UT and saw their really great WW2 museum - mostly focused on the heavy bombers and crew that passed through there for training but notable as the site where the exterior ballistics were learned and practiced for two of the more infamous bombs carried by B29s. It was interesting to see that less glamorous (no Hollywood movie, yet) part of the last bits of the war. Besides the Enola Gay hanger there are the loading pits and other gems

Hey, it's out in the UT/NV desert - you never know what you might find still surviving. Maybe even the cargo plane from Con Air.

A few more photos from Titian.

Well these are just scans of some rubbings from the plaques by the bomb loading pits.

Interesting video on the manufacturer of the B-17. The video is sped up And doesn’t show every task, but it looks like they were assembling the plane with producing numbers in mind. I guess when they were built, they were not made to last 10…20…30 years.

LOL!

OV-10 Bronco all day for me. Although, I did get some time in the Firehawk Sim. It was like flying a big-rig. A very cool big rig [emoji23]
