Could never get that song out of my head.
The DeFancos lived a few houses down from me in Van Nuys California during the early 1970's when they moved here from Canada . Talented kids. Had a lot of potential since they were all young. They were competing with the Jacksons and the Osmonds. They were popular in Tiger Beat, talk shows, American Bandstand, Sonny and Cher show. Between 1973 and 74 they were on a verticle trajectory with a top 40. Then teenage Tonys voice started to change. Then they went to Vegas and fizzled out. Its sad actually because of the potential they had as a group. Management wanted them to be a cover band. They refused to change direction musically. If they would have adapted to industry changes and had better management as well as experience /exposure they might have survived professionally. Voice coaching may have helped Tony the lead singer get through puberty changes in his voice. Kids in the neighborhood called Tony... Donny Osmonds brother. I remember them as good people. Marisa and Merlina DeFranco were pretty cute back then. All the kids have been successful at what they did post music life. Jeez that was fifty years ago.........

Taking a week off work and am at home trying to clear my head; figured I'd add a few one-hit-wonders that I remember to this thread...

Slade as a band that just wont die and they keep going. They have been around since 1966 and were even called to stand in for Ozzie Osborne when he could not play. Slade has made it and adapted to almost every genre of rock. Bets are on who will live longer Slade or Keith Richards.
