How do I seal this?
I bought a 12v automotive swamp cooler at BOR today for $20. The mechanical parts work perfectly, but due to a serious design flaw and age, it leaks horribly.
What can I use to seal this up? It's not easy - if not impossible - to get to the seam from the inside. I was thinking maybe a really heavy silicone or RTV. ![]() ![]()

I bought a 3oz tube of 5200 and glued everything back together last night. I started taking step-by-step pictures, but then realized I was making a mess and I'd better just git 'er dun.

Is all this so you don't cook in one of your old cars?

Can you fit you and that swamp cooler inside the Isetta at the same time?

Get off my lawn!

I remember my grandparents had an old Chevy Impala back in the early 1960s that they had a swamp cooler in it. They came to visit us in San Marcos, TX and grandpa said that thing just made him grow moss on his head. They work great if the humidity is low. They would be torture in Florida or the east cost right now.
It should be an interesting addition to your car.

After letting it dry a couple of days outside, I put some water in it and gave it a try. I put it in my M3, which was parked outside. The temp inside the car was ~100°; the temp at the outlets was ~80°
FWIW, it doesn't leak now. ![]() ![]()

Before you ruin your leather, go with a dual evap set up. You can run it off one compressor if you know what you are doing.

I only put ran it in the M3 as a test because I needed a fairly small enclosed space with 12v.
