I live in a wold of absolute honesty (that I have created)
I expect it of others, but I demand it of myself. RULES: -No getting even -No getting butt hurt -No holding in your expectations expecting them to be met. Your part of this is that you are expecting a bonus and instead of being honest with you boss, and letting him know how you feel, before seeing the email you were playing a game of gotcha with him. Thats your part. You were not honest His part He lied about no bonuses. This could have meant generally (but exceptions) or it could have meant across the board. If one person gets an uplift, and nobody else in teh company does, then I'd let it go. But if entire other departments are getting it and your not, then you'd like him to be honest about you as to why. Maybe its your performance Maybe he doesn't like you or maybe there just isn't enough money to go around. Don't guess. Just openly and honestly ask. Dont get butt hut over his answer. Make it a safe discussion. Onc you've gathered the info, then you are in a position to make a decision Is you boss really a liar? (Start making other plans, but don't report him to the teacher.) Is your boss between a rock nd a hard spot? Maybe wait it out and see how it goes next year Are you underperforming? Look inwards and find the answer based on the feedback. No one likes a tattle tale applies to grade school and work equally. And, even worse, if your boss is a liar, in fact a corporate psychopath at the extreme, then your now f'd on so many levels Always react without emotion. That means that if you are feeling emotion, process it. then make rational decisions. then act on those decision. I hope all works out well for you. |
I went from getting a raise every three months (young puppy dawg) at a major bank to never (salary capped) at the end of my corporate IT career.
It's YOUR career...make it happen :) |
