Do you talk to strangers?

I went to an event a while ago and the parking lot attendant started giving directions to the car in front of us. That lead into a lengthy conversation.
And what made it worse was watching at least a dozen or so cars in the other line pass by smoothly and efficiently while gladys and bertha had a good chat.
No telling how long that would have continued if I hadn't intervened if you know what I mean.
They were butt-hurt, I was pissed, as was the long line of people behind us.

If they're going to charge me $22 to park in a lot for a couple-three hours, the least they could do is not hire people like that to take my $$$$$.

at some point everyone new is a stranger -- So a little conversation never hurts.. Actually surprising if one engages another person how many times it can be interesting and rewarding.

Of course from time to time it goes no where ---- but WTF,

I strike up convos ALL THE TIME with people in public places that I have NEVER ever laid eyes on before.

Last night at WM in the produce section there was a guy wearing a shirt with "Syracuse" on it in sports font (representing the university's logo).

I said "You guys better beat Clemson this year!" with a smile on my face.

Long story short - the guy introduced himself and his chick to me and shook my hand about 5 times before we parted company and had a good convo about sports in general and turns out he played pro ball with both the Bills and Raiders for short period of time.

In this case, it was just like Glen seeing another dude with something on their shirt worth a quick discussion.

You never know where these convos will lead but in all my years I've never had a bad experience.

The best part is seeing a smile come over someone's face when you say the right thing.

Life is a trip....enjoy the ride!

My wife and I do it all the time. On vacations, we'll usually get involved in conversations with strangers we meet in restaurants and drinking establishments, and we've always had a lot of fun. It doesn't hurt that both of us are extroverts. Around home, when we're out in the Porsche on the weekend, we'll usually wind up in conversations with strangers we meet in restaurants and drinking establishments (See a trend here?). Hell, our best friends are a couple we met in our local bar, over 30 years ago.

No one who fought in Korea uses the term, "gook". My father fought in Korea and earned a Bronze Star. The word "gook" never crossed his lips, or his friends, who were bad to the bone.

When I fly I am always on chatty alert, especially on long hauls after a tough week: I'll talk about anything until wheels are in the well after take-off. After that, talk to the noise cancelling headphones.

Word. Here’s a recent photo of my “big brother” that I’ve talked about before. 6’4” Marine who spent his 19th Birthday in VN, (1969-70), 68 years old in photo. No loud stories, (no quiet ones either), no ethnic slurs, ever, etc...

I knew him for 30 years before he told me his USMC story and getting shipped off to war once on a long car ride in SoCal. We drove past where he lived off-base and he just opened up and I shut up. 30 years.

Such a kind person but there is a badass underneath that almost no one knows about.

Oh yeah, I talk to strangers all the time but depends on time/place/mood.
