What in the world? Bursitis

I had a soft, squishy bump pop up on my elbow overnight. Hadn't noticed it until today. Doesn't hurt at all. No redness. Not hot. About the size of a pecan. I haven't bumped it as far as I know.

I fit the parameters. Older Male, 65, dominant arm.

I have read up on it. Basically, don't use it much and don't bump it. Take ibuprofen.

Should I see a doc or wait a week or two and see if it gets better.

This makes me feel much better.

I noticed today that I have a strange attraction to fire hydrants.

OK, I could go read about this but I'm gonna go off the top off my head as I've had bouts with bursitis. It is an inflammation of the bursa sac, a reservoir, if you will, that contains lubricating fluid for the affected joint. You should actually be hurting, so since you're not, take care of the joint for awhile.

This is brought on simply by activity, like repetitive and vigorous. Previously injury predisposes you for the condition. My worst case locked my knee up through large swelling. I had simply poked a small hole in the meat just above the knee cap while my leg was bent and the area stretched. Within a day I couldn't walk. So a sharp bump or a small trauma can set this off.

Typical treatment measures: ice, slow flexing followed by more ice. You can use a little heat to loosen up, but heat can exacerbate the condition.

But you aren't hurting. Take 2 aspirin (actually and honestly, use ibuprofen) and call me in the morning.
