Paging CAD users who like and know Spoons

I may have a freelance gig (paid) for you spoon guys who are also highly proficient in CAD.

Have a project going with Walther and we have a need to do exploded views.

They may or may not be able to supply us CAD for the internals.

If not we need to recreate, something I'm pushing to avoid.

If interested lemme know.

Are your parts modeled already in something like solidworks? Are Walther's? Seems pretty simple if so.

Men do not quit playing because they get old.... They get old because they quit playing.

Sounds weird that they wouldn't do this themselves.

Well, at least recreating models for pretty pictures should be easy enough.

Go to https://grabcad.com/library?page=1&time=all_time&sort=recent&query=Walther

If you can't find some one here, GrabCAD has a user base (clearly)

They gave us SLDPRT and STEP for the frames for the first part of this.

No internals were needed at that time.

Now we may be doing animated exploded views.

The format we need to work in is a run time mesh so we convert from CAD to FBX or OBJ which works well.

My ask is because we may have to model these parts ourselves and doing these parts in a CAD package and converting is a better work flow for us than doing them straight up in MAX or Maya which is what my people have expertise in.

Figured it might be a fun gig for one of you.

This is for AR.

We only ever use one of two types of models, client supplied or built in house.

The stuff available online almost never fits our criteria.

I use solidworks occasionally at my job.... I am not a whiz at it, but I can model parts from scratch, open existing step files and mate parts together and create exploded configurations. I have also "played with animations of explodes and part motions, but I am no pro at it. IIRC I can export the animations to an avi video format.

I guess I would need to see an example of what you are looking for to know if I could handle it.

I found one of my old avi files I created a few years ago to show a design concept at a meeting at work. I do not want to post it to my Youtube channel, but it shows the below model cycling from retracted to extended.
